Highgear Loft Watch

Put the Highgear Loft Watch on your wrist and get more information than you knew you needed. For serious backcountry adventurers the Loft is loaded with data. Want to know what your heart rate was when you reached the summit of that last 14ner? Want to prove that you actually made it to 14,000 feet? The Loft has an altimeter that shows where you've been. A heart-rate monitor can be used by anyone that wishes to get the most out of their training. The whole unit is water resistant to 30 meters so you can get in and out of the water, or work up a big sweat, without ruining your watch. Large numerals, and buttons that are easy to use on the fly, allow you to check different functions with out stopping. This is the watch to take with you no matter what elevation you work out at.

Bottom Line: Elevate your training with Highgear.

High Gear Loft Watch

The watch is functional and the heart rate monitor works well. However, the altimeter and barometer are not very accurate and have to be reset every day to be useful. I also found that setting the watch is difficult and a frequent reference to the instructions is required.

Disappointing

The Loft Watch was AMAZING while it worked. Unfortunately, the chest strap stopped transmitting a heart signal on the third day of use. Given that my first two days of use were long ones (a long backpacking trip), I gave the unit the benefit of the doubt and simply changed the chest strap battery when I returned home. No such luck—the watch still won't register my heart beat. The watch does have very cool features and would be a perfect tool for backpackers if it just worked.
