Heritage Kayaks Pisgah 14 Kayak

If you're looking for a kayak that slips quietly and smoothly across lakes, rivers, and calm ocean waters, grab the Heritage Kayaks Pisgah 14 Kayak. The shallow V hull design provides straight tracking, while a progressive bow-to-stern rocker (the bow and stern rise out of the water a little—like a rocking chair) makes this kayak easy to turn. The Pisgah 14 Kayak's flexy backband supports your lumbar region throughout the day, and the adjustable thigh braces keep your legs comfortable. Store maps and snacks in the watertight bow and stern bulkheads.

Bottom Line: Get a smooth, swift ride with Heritage Kayaks' Pisgah 14-foot Kayak.

Pisgah 14

Bought 2 with rudders. Give it a 4.9 out of 5 since you can flip these if you don't press your thighs against the shell. Shell would be tight if you are over 6'2"and 220. Raced a two man canoe into the wind, the rudder will always win out. Maybe I'll get another one of a different color.

The shorter touring boat for rivers and wind

By:
September 25, 2008

This sport touring boat excels on moving water and loves hauling gear to camp. It seems to become more stable the more gear you load it with. It has some rocker which makes it easy to negotiate some current and eddies, dodge rocks, turn in the wind, and waves. The added rudder (not everyone needs it) will help increase tracking ability on the flat stretches. Those wanting a more sporty kayak for turning, maneuvering for lakes and rivers will like this boat.

Great Boat

By:

This is my first experience owning a kayak, and I love this boat. I took it on a 4 day trip, loaded with gear, and it was wonderful! The storage compartments provide ample space for your gear while still remaining buoyant. The seat with which it is equipped is magnificent--no muscle complaints here--ever! I've had it on small & large rivers, and it has not disappointed....you will thoroughly enjoy!

Great Boat

This is my first experience with a kayak, and I really enjoy this boat. I took it on a 4 day kayaking trip loaded with gear, and it was wonderful. The seat with which it is equipped was extremely supportive-not one muscle complained-ever! I have used this on small and large rivers, and it's great on both. It maneuvers very easily. I really like the storage, although one of them has a small leak. I have already called the dealer. I highly recommend this boat!

Liquid Logic Problems

By:
July 11, 2008

Thomas, If you'd gone to a dealer and actually seen what you were buying this wouldn't have happened.Did you contact the manufacturer about it? Did you realize that maybe Backcountry is buying blems and selling them as 1st quality boats? Did Backcountry help you out on the problem?

Liquid Logic Problems

By:
March 30, 2008

I ordered a PISGAH 14 on the advice of a friend. The service from this site is terrific. They are a 4.0 group of folks doing a fabulous job!! The PISGAH 14 I received was defective. The seat locking mechanism was riveted into the incorrect position. This is a flaw that even the most primitive quality control would have caught. No more Liquid Logic/Heritage boats for me. The PISGAH is garage junk.
