Grivel Nepal Light Ice Axe - 2004
The Nepal Light is Grivel's response to climber demand for an ice axe manufactured entirely from light aluminum alloy. The body and pick are hot, drop forged from one piece, then the stamped adze is welded to it. The shaft resists 270kg when tested according to UIAA methods, and is finished with an asymmetrical spike. Nepal Light is made for ski touring, ski mountaineering competition, classical mountaineering of moderate difficulty, and for high altitude expeditions where shaving off weight is of the utmost importance.
Bottom Line: Light is right; watch were you put down this axe - it may blow away.
