Granite Gear Air Compressor Compression Sack

Save weight and trim bulk by packing your gear in the Granite Gear Air Compressor Compression Sack. This SilNylon bag weighs a super-low 3oz (size small) and compresses your sleeping bag, extra layers, and any other packable gear to allow you to get away with a smaller backpack. You'll really appreciate these Granite Gear bags when you're hitting the trail for a three day trip, and your pack is half as big as your partner's pack.

Bottom Line: Small and light. Ah, the joys of the Granite Gear Air Compressor Sack.

Let'er rip

By:
June 23, 2008

I bought this sack for my down sleeping bag, and at first I thought it was just too cool. See through material, a reusable container...I was a happy camper. Until it ripped that is. It tore after about 1 year of use, and it happened near the edge, where I was gripping it with my left hand as I stuffed it with the right. The nylon just came off in my hand. Since then I replaced it with an Outdoor Research Helium stuffsack, and I couldn't be happier. Another neat feature that the Helium has that this one lacks is snaps on the straps. The straps on the air are all permanently attached, so every time you put the "cap" on, you have to make sure they're untangled and aligned. A stuffsack that has snaps is just so much quicker to pack up.

Great for my tent

By:
May 7, 2008

I keep my 3 man tent in this and manage to fit my sleeping bag, pad and tent all in the sleeping bag compartment of my regular size backpack. It is really lightweight and weighed less than the stuff sack the tent came in but it can still compress everything.

I can fit my Kelty Gunnison 2 tent, fly, and footprint in this little bag, then cinch it down so small...it easily fits in the bottom of my pack!

Compress Without The Xtra Weight

By:

Great lightweight addition to their already bombproof Round Rock Solid compressors. These have proven themselves to me for over three years without any problems. I own one each of the XS, S, & M. The medium can be used for all but the largest sleeping bags. I use the XS & S for clothes & fleece items. Extremely lightweight & durable. Items are visible due to the more sheer SilNylon material. I don't recommend FULLY compressing the higher loft down sleeping bags for fear of damaging the more delicate clusters. Just a thing of mine!

Works well

The medium was a bit smaller than I'd hoped for. Couldn't get a sleeping bag into it, so I compact my socks, underwear, a towel, beanie, and a sweater; so it worked itself out.

Compression Sack

I love this bag. I use it for my XL down jacket, my XXL rain jacket, my rain pants and a beanie. It works great and is pretty tough for being very light weight. It helps me cram more into my pack.

Don't leave home without these

These things are absolutely fantastic. Made of sil-nylon they are lightweight, strong and squish your poofy stuff down to nothing. I can get my -20 down bag into a small and squish it down to less than half the full size. Glad I bought two so I can use one for my down jacket & clothes. Surprisingly durable.

Light and well built

I can fit my Marmot pinnacle in the small sized sack with room for a jacket. I have had other compression sacks that come apart. You can't go wrong with this. Sil-nylon is what it is made from. It is the coolest stuff.

I love these. They're great for organization, reducing bulk/volume, they make nice pillows, and they look cool. Super-light, and breathable (put wet/damp clothes in one and toss it in your sleeping bag, be your own dryer). Extra nice.
