GoLite Reed Pant - Men's

GoLite stripped the waterproof breathable Men's Reed Rain Pants to a scant six ounces to ensure you can always spare the weight for a little extra weather protection. You have no excuse to leave these fully seam-taped pants behind whether you head out for a day hike or week of backpacking. Ten-inch ankle zippers help these GoLite pants fit well with both hiking boots and trail running shoes.

Bottom Line: Pull the six-ounce waterproof GoLite Reed Rain Pants from your pack to keep your legs dry when storm clouds threaten your hiking trip.

Works up to a point

GoLite Reed Pant has kept me dry on numerous Montana outings, but proved totally ineffective when we got slammed by an all day storm on the Olympic Peninsula Coast. I suggest that the Pacific NW requires heavier, more waterproof gear overall.

leg too narrow

the legs are simply too narrrow, the ankle zipper too short to allow these pants to slip over a normal size hiking boot

Superlite rain pants for the $

By:
October 1, 2007

I wore them on a 14er as backup to my power stretch tights with undies. Predawn winds were blowing along the ridge and summit but didnt feel it. Probably they are waterproof. Seemed pretty durable, but still wanted to be careful how and where I sat, etc. No damage, stayed clean OK. Ultra-packable! The zippers are useless for me because my big boots (Salomon SM Lites) can't fit thru the trim-cut legs. But at least they werent swooshing badly while I walked. Good looking, in the generic uberican cut Golite has. The material felt on the less breathable side, there's no fly or other vent. When overheating, rolling up the legs helped a little, even rolled down the waistband as far as it would go without binding leg movement.
