Giro Atmos Helmet

The Giro Atmos Helmet is road helmet technology at its most advanced. Featuring carbon-fiber roll cage reinforcement, Roc-Loc 4 fit, and 26 channel vents, the Atmos stands guard over your gray matter while weighing next to nothing, and literally keeps your head cooler than riding without a helmet. You, and the Tour de France riders who wear the Atmos while hammering through the Alps, will be hard-pressed to even know it's there…until you need it.

Bottom Line: Elite riders rely on the Giro Atmos Helmet. So can you.

Good - almost great

By:

This helmet features great venting combined with light-weight design. Overall, I am satisfied with the product. However, for 175 bucks I expect a bit more. The size adjustment in the back of the helmet is a bit dated. For example, it's tough to get the adjustment even on both sides. Additionally, the fit isn't dead on for me. This results in hot spots if I where only the helmet and no liner. I'd really like to see Giro offer 2 different fits... Wishful thinking...

GREAT VENTILATION

This helmet feels like my head is in an air conditioner. It's GREAT for hot weather and long rides. Did I mention stylish?

Good helmet - needs slight re-design

I love the light weight of this helmet - great look too. It doesn't lay flat across the forehead like most helmets, instead it has a couple points that it rests on. They always leave imprints on my forehead and although it's not terribly uncomfortable - it's annoying to have these big impressions on my head after I ride. I bought a small in the men's instead of getting a women's helmet. I'm going to have to jerry-rig some extra padding up front for future long rides.

If cost is an issue...

If the Giro Ionos Helmet is too pricy then this is the way to go. It's light, easy to adjust, well ventilated. This was my helmet of choice until the Ionos came out.

Great, but where did mine go?

Awesome helmet, way better than my old ETTO from 1984. This helmet fits great, is super light and doesn't make your head sweat. Only problem is I lost mine!!! Where is it, do you know?

A little Expensive but Worth It

By:
October 5, 2008

Although this helmet is a bit pricey its ventilation and fit make the price not seem as bad. There could be a little more padding in the front; not for comfort but to keep the helmet from leaving impressions in the skin. With all the available color choices, it's light weight and most importantly the carbon reinforced strength this is a great investment for protecting your cranium.

Fit ok. Padding a little thin if your bald. Wife fell with hers. Helmet cracked but her head was fine.

sick helmet

The red and blue scheme is pretty sweet. The airflow is fantastic and the fit is great. Coming from wearing a Bell helmet before, the position of the chin strap took a little getting used to. The helmet fits snugly and securely, and I love riding with it.

Air flow and fit is great. The Atmos helmet shape/design is such that you don't look like you're wearing a space helmet. I replaced my last Atmos with this one due to a crash that saved my noggin so without a doubt it does what it' meant to do...save the skull! Love the fit, love the price too!

For The Price I Expected More

By:

This is a nice helmet but it is not amazing. The Giro atoms at $175 I expect perfection instead you get great air flow and cheap plastic parts. The back of the head adjustment popped off on the first ride. I can't get the helmet to fit right but that might be because I ordered a size to large. I normally wear a small I got a medium my fault.

Near Perfection

By:

Living in Georgia air flow is a necessity, I need a helmet with lots of vents. The Atmos lets in tons of air and keeps me much cooler then my old helmet. The locking mechanism works great and I have no complaints about the fit. I haven't tested the helmet for its intended use, protecting my noggin in a crash, but being a top end Giro helmet I have no worries that if the day comes it will do it's job.

Great Helmet

This helmet is light, breaths well and .. oh yeah saved my live. It protected my head form an 8' fall onto rocks in Frutia, CO a summer ago. The helmet was destroyed by my head was fine. That's really all you need to know.

Light, comfortable and good looking helmet. Easily adjustable even during riding and lots of air cooling the riders head down.

It's got Huge...Vents

By:
May 30, 2008

So I would love to give this thing all five...it's great, fits well, has a bunch of vents. But the front pads have worn a bit faster than I would really like. They give you an extra set which is nice. But the original ones should just last a bit longer.

Giving it a 4/5 only because I think it could be a little more comfortable (as compared to other helmets I've owned).

Another great from Giro

I have used this helmet for over a year and must say that it does what it says it will do: protect your head and keep it cool. Unless you want to spend $225 for the Ionos, stick with the Atmos.
