G3 AviTECH Shovel - D Grip - 2007

The G3 AviTECH shovel brings shovel technology up to date. G3 has re-engineered the reliable aluminum shovel design to create an innovative, light, strong, more durable shovel for backcountry travelers and industry professionals. Heat treating the technical aluminum connector tube and blade after TIG welding relieves residual stresses and produces a stronger shaft to blade interface. The AviTECH shovel is easily adapted to the day's anticipated use by selecting from the 3 in 1 configuration. The powerful D-grip handle has stash pocket and a unique ice axe loop attachment. –Vendor

Bottom Line: No ordinary shovel.

Emergencies? Never again!

By:

Honestly, this shovel is wonderful! My housemate got her Jeep stuck in a large snow bank, and we used this shovel to clear out the snow from around the tires and also from under the car. The compact design makes it easy to store and transport. The durable design means that it won't fall apart like other flimsy so-called "emergency" shovels. It stays in the trunk of my car at all times. This is definitely an essential item.

G3 Backcountry shovel

If you're considering buying a shovel, I'd pick up the G3. Well built, sturdy blade and a big D molded grip....makes handling with gloves or mitts easy.

Bomber !

Super pleased with this shovel. I am impressed on the durabilty, I have pryed, chipped and even dug out my car, and the thing still looks like new. I like the fact that if the lower shaft breaks you can use the upper shaft in the blade. Bomber stuff as you can expect from the g3 folks.

Awesome!

This thing is durable! Really compact and light. Not great for moving a lot of snow, but it only took me about 15 minutes to build a four-five foot kicker. Great shovel.

Your review was very helpful. You are spot on about the AviTECH shovel. Effective for moving snow and easy to strap onto my Dakine helipro pack. It is built like it just might last forever.
