Gore Bike Wear Phantom Jacket - Men's

On blustery spring days, suit up with the GORE Bike Wear Men’s Phantom Jacket, and get on with your ride. This slim-fit jacket features GORE’s WindStopper material that stops the breeze dead in its tracks so you stay comfortable. GORE Bike Wear added stretch inserts under the arms to prevent rideup and let you move freely. Should you get a tad hot because the WindStopper protects you so well, simply detach the sleeves to make the Phantom into a short-sleeve windshirt. Durable elastic binding on the hem and cuffs prevent the wind sneaking around the fabric to get to your core.

Bottom Line: Shields you from the chilling effects of a cold wind.

Gore Bike Wear Phantom Jacket - Men's

The fabric is amazing! It stops the wind, breathes well, and feels comfortable against the skin. It has moderate insulating value, but this close-fitting jacket has just enough room for another insulating layer underneath, making it great for sub-freezing temps to about 60F. The sleeves are long (good for when you're stretched out over the handle bars), and they zip-off, which is an awesome feature for added versatility; or they can be partly unzipped to provide arm-pit venting. When removed, the sleeves fit in the back pockets. When the sleeves are off, there's a half-sleeve underneath, which makes it more like a short-sleeve jersey than a vest. This feature makes the jacket a bit warmer, but also makes it fit a bit tight in the shoulder/arm pit area. I'm neutral about this design element. Front pockets would be a nice addition to the jacket, but considering it's specifically designed for biking, the three rear jersey style pockets are ideal. Note: My wife got the women's model (different year, maybe?) and it had a single zippered pocket on the back, which is not as functional/convenient in my opinion. There are well-placed reflectors all over the jacket!
