Garmont Mega-Ride Alpine Touring Boot - Men's

Step into the Garmont Men's Mega Ride Alpine Touring Boot and prepare for feather-light tours, awesome freeride strength, and amazing comfort. The new G-fit3 liner incorporates a lace-up system for better fit and three different foam densities with a more heavily padded tongue and cuff for better support and responsiveness. The Mega Ride Boot packs innovative function with the new ultra light magnesium buckles and the serrated Icebreaker function on the lower two buckets that cuts right through hours of frozen build-up that accumulates during your tours. The Mega Ride is Garmont's lightest four-buckle alpine touring boot, so lock in to either your Dynafit or AT bindings and get out there. NOTE: Be sure to check out our sizing chart for optimal fit.

Bottom Line: Lap everyone else on the way up and on the way down with the burly Garmont Mega Ride AT Boot.

(Female reviewer) I want to love 'em, but...

I ordered the women's in 24.5, my normal size. The length would have been perfect, but the size of the toe box is as big as a pea. I tried the men's, of course they are wider, but I also found the toe box STILL seemed small (albeit not nearly as bad as the women's). Maybe just not the boot for me.

great boot

After 30+ years in alpine boots, switching to an A/T boot was a little scary. I thought I'd lose some performance, mainly in-bounds. Was I wrong. After reading the instructions and learning there are 2 ski settings (choose the forward lean if you want to ski like an alpine boot) I quickly got them dialed and am skiing all the same terrain as before, just as well. Plus, the lightweight for hiking and even just getting from the car to the lift is unreal. If you're on the fence, jump over it and get these boots.

Holding Up Well Over Time

By: tongaroo (9)

I've owned these boots for over two years, and I'm very happy with them. There are more and more 4-buckle Dynafit compatible boots coming out, and the Mega-Rides are still holding their own since the ratio of stiffness-to-weight is very high. I use them equally at the resort and in the BC, and they work well at both...still the gold standard of 4-buckle, Dynafit compatible boots, as far as I'm concerned.

not for wide feet

By: Climber Jack (2)

If your foot is even slightly wide this will be too tight, and I'm not sure going a half size larger will solve the problem. I got mine a half size larger to start with, and I was shocked at how tight this boot was across the forefoot. I'm not talking a little tight, I'm talking painfully tight. Is this a lady's design? I cannot buy this boot. As a reference, the Scarpa Pro Tornado was also too tight, so maybe its me. It seems like only the Germans make boots wide enough for me, which is unfortunate since the Italians are the master bootmakers.

Nice Lightweight Performance

I was shocked how lightweight these boots really are, and they don't sacrifice much performance for the sake of weight. Still having a bit of trouble getting them tight enough around my skinny ankles, so sometimes they tend to feel a bit too loose when I really push them hard. After two touring days, I am impressed with the flexibility and would recommend these to anyone.

Awesome boot but be advised

December 24, 2007

I recently purchased the Mega Ride 30.0 boots and they fit like a glove, just a little too much. I'm posting this review to let others know that these boots do not have much volume in the lower foot. Super light, great buckle system, nice walk mode, very comfortable liner but just too tight. I decided to return these and get the Scarpas that have much more volume in the lower foot area. If you have small to medium width foot the Mega Ride will be awesome.

Unite...Oh yea women large of foot

Amazing boot but I had to do a bit of shell filling so that I could get a good heel fit. Being a woman with a large shoe size, I had to go to a men's boot. I would suggest you do a bit of an overlap between men's and women's sizes so you can accommodate the taller and tougher of the weaker sex. I have had 5 good days in a row in my new boots. Light and dynamite. Good in the resort and out. Versatile with variations.

These boots ROCK!

Most comfortable boot I have ever owned and very light. It makes my high end downhill boots suck wind. Makes me wonder why I just don't use the mega rides and dynafits on all my down hill ski's, what a light set up!
