Garmont Nagevi Hiking Shoe - Men's

The Garmont Nagevi Hiking Shoe is a trail eater extraordinaire. A comfortable suede and mesh upper gives you breathability for sweaty days and support for routes that are called "trails" only out of politeness. Multi-density Vibram G3+ soles are hard enough to protect your feet from the ravages of rocky trails, but soft enough to cushion your feet from repeated impacts. Garmont's QDS lining is made with hydrophobic materials to make sure you aren't taking the rivers and streams along with you in your shoes. If you're going out for a fast day with minimal weight, the Nagevi will keep up.

Bottom Line: Less polite people call them "Awful irregular washes strewn with jagged rocks."

Meh

This shoe has great fit right out of the box. Problems start to arise once you start wearing it though. One month was all it took for both toe bumpers to start peeling off and for the left heel to crack and make a squeaking noise with every heel strike. Good shoe for walking your black lab and looking outdoorsy, not so much for being outdoorsy.

tried these at a local EMS and they seemed comfy but maybe a little too "spongy" probably because of the EVA in the midsole? did that bother people over time? felt a little like driving a crown victoria, a driving sofa with little feel for the road.

Awesome Deal

I have yet to take these bad boys on the rainy adventures in Guatemala scheduled in a week, but thus far they rock. A super sturdy shoe, and the gortex lining holds up nicely in the damp trails of Santa Cruz. The tread, although not the nifty Vibram sole that comes with Merrills, is rugged enough to meet my needs. For the price, you really can't beat the shoe.

recommended for casual wear

nice shoe for all day wear. they seem a bit tall of the sole though, as i have rolled my ankle more than once on uneven terrain.

Light Hiking (light is the key)

By:
April 17, 2008

I bought these shoes as an all-purpose light/day hiker (I have the LL Bean all leather Gore-Tex Cresta for the long haul.) As a day hiker they are pretty good, though they seem so light in weight that it's hard to believe they will hold up for more than a season. Well, a month into having the Nagevi they seem to have broken in nicely, molding the shape of my foot appropriately. The length and width of the shoe are true to size (I bought size 8.) I do have wider feet so I use a thinner sock when I hike in these. Overall, if you want a low-price light hiker, but don't want to buy a low-grade shoe like High Tech, Colombia, or Timberland go with these. Garmont is a reputable company with a strong track record for trusted outdoor gear.

Very Comfortable Hiker

By:
January 31, 2008

I bought these shoes for light trail hiking with my dogs here in the Rockies. I got more than I bargained for...these things are so comfortable they have become my everyday shoes. They have a tough, rigid sole that is great for trails and scrambling on rocks and they're stylish and comfortable enough to wear anywhere. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another pair after these wear out, and would recommend them to others as well.

Another pair

By:

This is my second pair and I really like em. The fist pair lasted a strong year of almost everyday use in both wet and dry conditions. I use these as work shoes - so standing, walking, sitting - they're good to go!

Great Shoes

By:

After wearing Merriels for the last ten years, and not getting much is out time out of them since they were bought out by Wolverine. A friend mention I should try the Garmont Nagevi Hiking Shoe, because he loves his so much. I bought a pair not expecting much, and I found out these shoes are awesome. I thought they were so good, I bought a 2nd pair.

Nagevi Hiking Shoe

By:
March 22, 2007

Shoe fits great, I can see why the Nagevi is Garmont's best-selling light trail shoe. The sole is stiff with the right amount of flex where you need it. In all honesty I have always worn heavier boots but they felt like overkill for day hikes and short trips, so I thought I would try a light hiking shoe and I am impressed with the technology they've invested because they work. I also have to mention they look cool on my feet.

Good Shoe

By:

I bought these Garmonts for a work shoe and spend a lot of time on my feet. I have no problems. The traction holds well on wet floors, and the upper breathes well. The only issue is that the sole is peeling away where the toe bends on one shoe - nothing a little shoe goo can't fix, however ...
