Katadyn Exstream XR Purifier Bottle

The Katadyn Exstream XR Purifier Bottle is a lightweight, self-contained water purification system tailored to the solo backcountry traveler. The XR (eXtended Range) model offers a large-capacity 34 oz bottle for longer hikes in arid climates. EPA registered, the Exstream XR purifier removes everything from viruses to Giardia and Cryptosporidium cysts. The simple design fits perfectly into water bottle cages and cup holders, making it awesome for use as a backup water source on bike rides, day hikes, or adventure races. A bite valve allows easy hands-free opening. Treats up to 26 gallons, depending on water quality.

Bottom Line: An ultralight, solo adventurer's favorite, and the best-selling water bottle purifier.

Superb for backpacking/hiking

Used it for a week-long canoe trip in the Boundary Waters, and a separate hiking/camping trip in the Smoky Mountains. Loved being able to just dunk the bottle (cap off) into the lake or waterfall stream, re-cap, and drink. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who must take big gulps of water at a time, but it worked very well for me. No problems on either trip. Purifier and water bottle in one - great for those who don't want to carry a bunch of separate things just to drink water safely.

Works Great

Other than being a bit hard to get the water flowing during the initial setup (it'll give your hands a workout), the bottle works great! For the price, it is completely worth it, especially for someone traveling overseas who doesn't want to carry lots of equipment around.

sqeeze bottle

Great product, a little hard to squeeze, and the flow is slow. But hard to beat the fact you can dunk it in water right out of the boat and drink safely. Great for a third world country trip or as a personal bottle on a hike.
