The Eagle Creek Switchback Max 25 Luggage travels easily through airports and train stations with its ORV wheels and Touch Point Radius handle. The hideaway backpack straps, sternum strap, and waist-belt distribute weight evenly when you carry the pack over obstacle-ridden terrain. For those four-hour side trips, the front portion of the Switchback Max zips off and becomes a daypack with organizer pockets. Although this 25-inch luggage is too big for carry-on, you can check the wheeled portion and bring the daypack onboard. Good, comfortable, convertible pack

After much research, I bought this pack for a 4 month round the world trip which will be made up of trains, planes, boats, islands, city hotels, and everything in between. I think this does lean towards the smarter, more stylish look, and I don't think i would rough it too much with this pack. I decided on this one because the waist/chest strap is very sturdy/comfy so for the short jaunts that I'll be back-carrying it, it'll take the load off. Easy detachable backpack - also looks good on it's own. Only fault would be no pockets in the main compartment.
