Deuter Futura 28 Backpack - 1700 cu in

You finally have time to take that day hike with the kids; have an enjoyable trek while wearing the Deuter Futura 28 Backpack. Deuter's Aircomfort system creates a space between your back and the pack, thus allowing air to travel between them and escape, letting sweat evaporate more easily. This spring steel frame distributes weight equally for easy carrying and fits securely against your back to reduce shifting and bunching. With 1700 cubic inches of space, this pack works well for day hikes. Smart details like compression straps and internal separation pockets make the Futura 28 easy to pack full and cinch tight.

Bottom Line: Wear the Deuter Futura 28 Backpack on your next hike.

Futura 28

Quite honestly - don't like it. It's definitely not for in-town use. If anything, it's for treks and adventure travel. Awkward to handle and too difficult to place something in due to its curviness and narrow profile. It takes features from a march larger pack and applies them to a daypack. This is overkill. It has all sorts of hidden pockets just what paranoid yuppies would go for. For one-third the price you can get an Eddie Bauer simple daypack that's easier to manipulate and carry around. It has few frills but it's easier to deal with.

My girlfriend says I love my backpack more than her

This backpack rocks. I am going on an ultralite trip around the world (Europe, Asia, etc) and I got this backpack as my ONLY bag. It seemed small when I lifted it from its box and started unzipping pockets to get a better look. After a few minutes of packing all of the stuff I'm taking on my trip into the various areas (and trying out a few configurations) I started to realize it was the PERFECT SIZE. I know they call it a day-pack, but I would say 28 liters is a perfect amount for a trip around the world (my girlfriend is getting the 32 liter because "she's a girl"). The water bladder pocket fits my 13.3" laptop very well, and I am able to fit all of my clothes PLUS A SLEEPING BAG in the rest of the pockets. The integrated rain-fly is AWESOME and it invokes such pride to be able to take out your rain-fly and cover up your pack when everyone else is trying to scramble to find a garbage bag to cover themselves with. I don't have one bad thing to say about this pack. It kicks butt.
