I want to steal my mom's shoes!

I bought my mom a pair of these years ago. Whenever I go home I always try to run off with them. They are so comfortable! The looks may not be for everyone, but if you need a comfortable shoe that lasts this is it!

great shoes

First priority, comfort. Second priority, looks. These shoes satisfy both.
Initially they are just a little tight. I thought, perhaps, I made a mistake in sizing. But after wearing them a while, they seem to mold and fit my feet. Good arch support. Even for relatively flat/low arches.

Which shoes are considered slip resistant in the Dansko womens
Which shoes are considered slip resistant in the Dansko womens line

They all use a Polyurethane sole. Therefore the level of slip resistance will be the same for all their clogs. As far as how slip resistant that sole is it depends on what you want to do in them for casual outings you will be fine. If you doing anything technical your in a world of hurt for more reasons than the sole of the shoe.

Professional Carbio clog sizing has changed
By: Sally Haub
March 23, 2009
I have been wearing Dansko clogs for over 10 years. The last pair of Dansko professional cabrio clogs I bought was in 2006 and I am still wearing them. They were size 38, so when I ordered a new pair I ordered size 38. They were huge. I guess with the change in manufacturer the sizing is not the same. I exchanged the 38 for a 37 and the fit is perfect.
The construction of the toe box is a little different. The toe box ix now wider and it is no longer flush with the sole, as were the old ones; it angles up a little and the top of the toe extends over the length of the sole a little bit. No difference in comfort. The new ones in size 37 are just as comfortable as my old 38s. I stand for long periods of time at work, as long as 10-12 hours on some days, and my feet, legs and back stay comfortable.
Should a new pair of Dansko's be very snug ( almost uncomfortable)
Should a new pair of Dansko's be very snug ( almost uncomfortable) or slightly loose? For me this is the difference of one shoe size.
By: Robin
March 18, 2009
Yes, the Dankso Clog should be pretty snug when you buy them - they need breaking in fer sure. I wore 2 pairs of socks to break them in around the house. It takes time for fer sure worth it for the years to come.

Hey Robin,
I got my wife a pair of these and the first pair were just a little loose. They stretched and ended up being too big. We went 1 size down and once they had stretched out they were perfect. In my opinion I'd got with the smaller of the two and if they end up not working out you can always return them and get the next size up.
Hope that helps.

Danskos are (pretty much) the only shoes I wear...
By: ZadZack
October 31, 2008
I got my first pair of Danskos (oiled Professionals) back in 1997 and I've been addicted ever since. Each pair lasts me 2 years, minimum -- and I had at least one pair of Monika sandals that lasted for 8 years -- after extensive use at home, at work and various travels near and far (cobbled streets of Italy, deserts in Arizona, city streets of London). Not only are Danskos comfortable, but they are durable.
MATERIALS: Contrary to the review submitted by "maren," I prefer the Cabrio Professionals because they are more rigid. The oiled leather I wear out too soon (it may just be the way I walk, because I tend to wear out the upper area over my big toe!). While the Cabrios are more rigid, this does not mean that they lack the ability to stretch. I compared my new Danskos to my current Danskos (haven't worn a hole in them... yet) and I can see where my current Danskos have stretched to fit my foot. However, if you are concerned about mantaining a shiny appearance, they will eventually show some scuff marks -- not as bad or noticeable as a patent leather, but it won't blend as it would with an oiled leather. I don't know if the scuffs can be removed; I haven't tried to remove them as I don't think they're all that noticeable.
SIZING: Over the past several years, I noticed that the sizing has gotten smaller. I'm typically a size 7 to 7.5 and used to be able to get size 37 Danskos; I now have to size up to a 38 for optimum comfort. If they feel a bit too narrow, it's possible that it may take a some time for them to stretch. As I mentioned above, they WILL stretch to form to your foot within reason.
COLORS: You can't go wrong with the staple colors. I live in black Danskos, but have a couple other sandal varieties in other shades of brown. I can wear them with jeans, shorts or even with most of my (office) work clothes. Danskos are popular with nurses -- another testament to their comfort -- so they are available in other places in other colors (such as white).
ORDERING FROM BACKCOUNTRY: Fast shipping, questions can be answered via chat session, good return policy should you need to use it. Haven't had a bad experience yet. I'm always wary of sizing issues, particularly with shoes, but since I am confident of my Dansko sizing, ordering shoes online was a no-brainer -- what with the free shipping, tax-free shopping, and discount coupon (if available).

I have worn my cordovan Cabrio Dansko clogs since 2006. When I bought them, the retailer told me to use beeswax sealer on them to protect the finish against rain, snow and dirt. I did this and it really has worked. A little bit of the stain comes off when I clean them and reapply the sealer, but the finish still looks great. I don't reapply the sealer very often, maybe 3-4 times a year.

like many people buying or considering buying these shoes, i work in a hospital and am on my feet much of the day. they are nice enough looking to be 'professional' and are comfortable for long hours. my only complaints are that the sizing chart is misleading (i wear a 8-8.5, and ordered 39's originally. i had to return them for 40's which the chart says is a 9. i have never worn 9 for any other shoes. also, i would say i have moderately high arches at best, but the top of the shoe does put pressure on the top of my arches. overall, good shoes that i expect to wear for years.

Along with the fantastic service and great deals this site has to offer, the shoe is just as i expected. this is my 3rd pair and i wasn't disappointed. i was a little nervous about ordering them online since they are hand-sewn, but they fit fine. i'm a nurse that works 12-13 hour shifts and have tried many different shoes, but these are the best. they take a little breaking-in, but that doesn't take too long working 12 hours a day in them!

Are Dansko clog shoes considered non-slip? I have just started a waitressing job and was told non-slip shoes are required as the kitchen floors can get slick. I have a pair of Dansko's that I love but wasn't sure if they are non-slip. Thank you

It took me a while to buy these shoes because they are not exactly the most stylish for dress pants, but I'm glad I bought them. They are so comfortable, even after standing all day in the OR or running around in the hospital. If you are a half-size, make sure you go w/ the higher European size. I had to exchange mine because they were a tad too small.

Hospital, Restaurant, you name it!

From working 10 hours in the ER to 10 hours in the restaurant as a server...these shoes could not be better. I tend to have jobs requiring me to be on my feet for a ridiculous number of hours and my feet do not hurt after wearing these beauties. I have the oiled professionals in hickory and yes, they do get a bit scuffed after normal use, but in my opinion the wear actually just builds the character of the shoe and doesn't look bad at all. They are worth the money, hands down. I'm a 6.5 US and size 37 is perfect. I recommend trying them on at a store before buying online because the sizing is a little sensitive with these, it is better to lean toward the bigger size if you are debating.

So, I tried my second pair. The stain came off the clogs the first time they got wet. The dark stain completely rubbed off so the shoes were blotchy again. I would suggest the Oiled Danksos instead.
I need these in black, size 39, they are listed as not in stock.

September 19, 2008
My first pair of Danskos were a size 38 (I'm a size 8). I couldn't wear socks with them, and the clogs were too tight over the top of my foot and the sides.
For my new pair I sized up to a 39 (even though the size chart doesn't agree). Now I can wear regular socks and wiggle my toes. There is still some pressure on the top of my foot though.
Also, my first pair I ordered was stained in blotches, and most of the shoe wax wasn't even buffed in. The second pair was perfect!

I wish they did come in a wider option. I wear a 9.5, so got a 41. Fit wonderfully for the first 2 hours, then across my foot starting hurting. My legs had no pain, though. Decided to try a 42, but even they hurt my feet after 3 hours.

I got these for running around the hospital and I love them. The first few weeks were tough (I didn't wear them all the time) as they rubbed on the top of my foot and I had to wear super thin socks but now they are one of my favorites. I just wish they were more comfortable when I bike to and from school/work so I would never have to take them off!

Yep, they are every bit as great as I've heard. Totally comfortable for waitressing or casual wear, and they look great with everything. The sizing was ran a little bigger than I anticipated, but a thicker sock did the trick. The narrow style is the way to go if you have a narrow foot. Happy with the purchase none-the-less.

Originally purchased these clogs for waitressing and found them to be comfortable and loose enough when my feet swell up after a million hours on the job...but their use has extended far beyond that and I feel like I've got my money's worth for sure. They look good with jeans and are easy to slip on to go run an errand.

i have never found a pair of shoes that my feet dont hurt in. my feet are normal and my feet are always killing me no matter what kind of shoes i wear. i am a new comer to the medical field and one of my coworkers was talking about how comfortable her shoes were. i decided to go the mall and try a pair on. even after working 9 hours and walking in with swollen feet i tryed a pair on and literally the second i put them on my feet feel a million times better. i advise you try a pair on and have the clerk fit you for them. the clerk told me they should be alittle loss on the heel.

These were recommended by a friend who is a waitress and swears by them. I have fibromyalgia and can't stand for long periods and thought they might help. I got them at the end of the day when I worked at a childress bazaar for 10hrs on my feet. They hurt so bad normally I come home and sit for 3 days but instead I opened my box and began wearing my new shoes which stretched the ligaments etc. in my feet and made them feel much better. Thanks.
Lisa btw I have high arches!
What's not to love ???

March 2, 2009
Since these are my 4th pair of Dansko clogs, I guess that says it all ... After reading all the previous reviews, I must be the only person in the shoe universe who went a bit smaller in terms of size. I normally wear a size 6 1/2 or 7 and all of the pairs I own are in size 36 (which corresponds to a US Size 6). I wear them with and without socks and never feel like my feet are squeezed in any way.
If they'd make a pair with multi-colored polka dots, I'd LOVE it.
Beware of the Dansko Squeek
By: Dolores
April 17, 2009
Beware of the Dansko Squeek. After wearing them for a bit they often start to squeek. A rep I talked to at Dansko said this is common and has to do with how the leather upper is attached to the sole. They are more than willing to replace them. I had to pay to ship them. I couldn't take the squeek. This is a pretty common occurance and has happend in 2 of the 5 pairs I have had.

I decided to try these after my cousin raved about how comfortable they are. She is a nurse and has 3 pairs and swears by them; these are the only shoes she will wear to work. I'm a pharmacist and stand all day and these shoes did not do the trick for me. The first day I was uncomfortable, but i figured I need to break them in. I wore them for the entire week and not only do my feet hurt, my legs, and back do as well. I guess I'm one of the few who do not like these shoes.

These Danskos I have had for years now and love them. My feet never feel tired even after 16 hr. days. But sizing for Danskos is different, they are meant to feel a little loose. I am a size 7 women's which is size 38 for Danskos. I went and got sized in a store first.

Totally sweet shoe! I love them for whatever I am doing. The Cardovan is the way to go! They do take some time to get use to, but its just your feet muscles changing or something.
Are great in moisture too and are sooo easy to slip on. Check sizing! I am a 10.5 and I do great with a 44!
