Dynafit TLT Vertical + Comfort Ski Brakes - 2007
The Dynafit TLT Vertical + Comfort Ski Brakes ensure that your perfectly-dialed ski touring set-up won't try to r-u-n o-f-t next time you spend a day inbounds or a morning on bulletproof crust. Compatible with Dynafit's TLT Vertical and Comfort AT bindings, these lightweight brakes grant piece of mind when you're stripping skins in sketchy spots. Slap the 100mm brake on your fatties, or go for the 92mm option for your lighter rig.
Bottom Line: The Dynafit TLT Vertical + Comfort Ski Brakes put to rest that horrible fear of having to watch your ski take off alone at mach 2, hellbent for a cliff or the bunny hill.

if I buy the 110mm Dynafit brake but want a ski that is wider
if I buy the 110mm Dynafit brake but want a ski that is wider at the waist , can the brake be adjusted or do I have to buy a ski that is only 110mm at the waist?

This pretty much can only fit 110mm wide skis while being effective, but bending kind of works up to a point. How much bigger are we talking about?

A necessary purchase

While expensive, don't buy dynafit's without the brakes, its just plain stupid. If you would like your ski to torpedo under the snow and spend hours probing for it, then don't buy these, however to save time and money it is worth the purchase

I just bought a pair of skis with Dynafit TLT Vertical ST binding already mounted. Do the bindings need to be unscrewed to add the brakes or can I just add these on?

I believe you need to pull off the heel post in order to slide them on. It is not that complicated and a shop could probably do it in 10 minutes if you don't feel comfortable doing it.

Essential bit of kit

Easy to fit, and really essential for anyone using these bindings day to day. They are heavy if you race but the waste of transition time caused by straps is extraordinary. There is one BIG problem, in that the mechanism often jams if water gets into the springs and freezes, and they will not deploy. Why do we have to put up with this kind of design fault? Be careful if using in temperatures around freezing. Otherwise seem pretty durable and strong. They do the job.

Excellent bindings. Mounted on Atomic Janaks.
The plastic toe piece latch is quite durable. The latch was forced completely vertical by a small tree and it survived several hard strikes with a ski pole grip to get it to release. Also, the volcano accepts the ski pole easier than the comforts for rotating the heel piece.
I have used these bindings for a complete season in area (primarily Taos) as well as many days in the backcountry with no problems. I have increased the vertical heel release tension above the specified setting for in area use because of unexpected tour mode falls.

Bought these brakes and had them mounted to my Mustags with TLT comfort bindings but they're not secured to heel plate (they slide right off with very little effort). Q: am I missing a piece that secures them to the heel plate? Any suggestions? Thanks...jh

There is a little c-shaped clip which holds them in place.
