DAKINE Bike Bag

The DAKINE Bike Bag makes traveling with a bike so easy that you'll want to bring your ride everywhere you go. You're going to be bumming for weeks if you fly to Whistler on business and don't bring your SX Trail. This fully padded bag fits road bikes, mountain bikes, and even full-on downhill rigs. A padded divider keeps wheels from scratching up the frame, and DAKINE added several internal pockets for pumps, tubes, pedals, and other necessities. The Bike Bag also includes an extendable handle and urethane wheels, so you don't have to carry everything through the airport.

Bottom Line: You have no excuse to leave your bike at home now that you have the DAKINE Bike Bag.

Dakine Bike Bag is a quality product

very nice bag, makes assembly and disassembly very easy. Nice extra pockets for tools/pedals etc. No damage whatsoever to my bike (Intense M3 worth $5K plus), though i found the included foam seperator inadequate. I used a camping mat inside the bag as well to make sure the fork and frame could not rub, and the included seperator to keep the wheels from rubbing the frame (hey Dakine, you need to include 2 foam pads!). I also used a couple pieces of cardboard between the cassette/hub to protect the inside of the bag from being rubbed (packed the wheels on top). I carried all of my armor (not my full face helmet), an extra tire, tools, camel back and shoes with room to spare. Wheels on the bag, handles and zippers are all top quality. Pricey sure, but what's a $300 bag worth compared to a spendy DH bike? I have a hard case too, but always hated it because it was so hard to close. I also think the Dakine bag looks more like a suitcase which probably helps the airport loaders identify that it is in fact "luggage". My hard case was routinely "misplaced" by airlines.

Anyone ever use this bag? How does it compare to a "hard" case, ie; will it protect your $5000 mtn. bike on a trans atlantic flight?

Dear SusieSki, did you ever get an answer to your question? I have the same question. Did you buy the Dakine Bike Bag? If so, how did it work for you? Thanks.
