this pack does NOT carry skis or a snowboard... i ordered it after seeing in the tech specs that it would carry skis vertically and even after being guaranteed by the online chat dude that it would carry my skis so i went for it... sure enough it won't hold them in any way... i'm now having to return it and find another pack before i leave for my backcountry tahoe trip... hence the title of my review... bummer... might be a great pack if you don't need to carry your skis or board... for that purpose order the heli pack as it's the same thing but had a loop for a diag carry system for the skis and some horizontal straps for the board...
