DAKINE Blade Backpack - 1800 cu in - 2006
The DAKINE Blade Pack was made for big tours, long summit ridges, and all-day peak bagging. This pack gives you tons of space and versatility when you know you're going to be hiking in the backcountry. Stash your helmet and extra layers inside the 1800cu inch interior, your hydration bladder in the insulated Hydro-Sleeve, and strap on your plank(s). Skiers will dig the Blade Backpack's diagonal ski carry, while snowboarders can appreciate vertical AND horizontal board carry options. As you put in the boot-pack, this DAKINE pack has an external shovel pocket and a quick-draw ice axe/shovel handle holster to keep your safety gear close at hand. At the summit, whip out your digi from the waist-belt's camera pocket, access your gear through the side and top openings, get dialed, and get some.
Bottom Line: For extended backcountry tours, the DAKINE Blade Pack is the go-to pack for powder-aficionados.

This backpack is great, big enough to carry a decent amount of gear, but if you've only got a few things can be compacted so it's not too cumbersome. Fits my Backcountry Access Tour Shovel System really snugly in the front panel in a waterproof pocket so the rest of my gear doesn't get wet. Camera pocket is a good idea too.
Awesome Pack

Whether Im camping, snowboarding, shooting, hiking, skateboarding, going to school or just going to spend the night with her, this pack does it all. Ive even used it for a cross-state motorcycle ride and I never needed to readjust once. Its super technical, has a pocket for everything. Its really comfortable even if carrying a snowboard; the straps hold the board tight so theres not any leeway for it to swing around. All the straps are easily adjustable and in some cases stow able. I love this pack, I actually have last years model and Ive used it for everything imaginable, even took it with me to Iraq. Just put it through the wash on permanent press when I got back and it held together perfectly. Awesome!! They need 6 stars.

Plenty of room to carry Thanskgiving leftovers on the slopes for 6 people and an extra layer. If you need space to carry gear on the hill, this is your pack. Or if you need to keep your lady friend happy by carrying her stuff too, this is also the pack for you.
