I bought this hat for my Dad after a recent conversation that we had. He lives in Texas and it get very hot down there.My Dad still runs a lot, usually on his lunch hour, and likes to wear a hat but most of them bother him once the sweat happens. He loves this hat with the mesh sides and the fact that it is rated at SPF30..it is absolutely perfect for what he needs in a hat, and the color options are nice, nothing to crazy. I am just glad that I found your site and found that hat..thank you..

I'm a little concerned about sun exposure on the mesh sides of the Columbia Willamette Water Cap. I know the hat has a UPF rating of 30 but does isn't there more exposue with the mesh sides?

I wouldn't worry too much about it. It looks like the mesh in this is similar to the mesh in most sun hats, where it is a loose weave to breathe, but not so loose that light actually gets through it.
