Coleman RoadTrip Grill LX

Turn any tailgate lot or campsite get together into a barbecue with the Coleman RoadTrip Grill LX. The RoadTrip runs on a 16.4 ounce propane cylinder (not included), or you can outfit it with a propane hose and run it off a 20 pound tank. The grill runs at up to 20,000 BTUs for hot and fast cooking, even if you plan on using it outside a football stadium in freezing cold weather. The RoadTrip's 285sq in cooking surface is a real drip-through grill with a removable grease pan for easy cleaning. Coleman's easy-use design means you can pop the top off when you want to cook a huge pot of chili or detach the side tables when you're tight on space. The RoadTrip's two burners are independent so you can slow cook one side while blasting the other. The RoadTrip grill compactly folds and the lid locks shut so you can leave it in your trunk until you're ready to cook.

Bottom Line: The compact, high-power Coleman RoadTrip Grill LX turns any event into an impromptu barbecue.

We have used the RoadTrip LX for 21 tent camping days so far, and really enjoy it. Instead of the wheeled carrier that is available, we chose to by the extra large Rubbermaid container. The stand is too large but the grill and all other Coleman gear rides protected in one location. The only drawback we have found is that it does not handle the wind well. Either turning it or rigging a shelter takes care of that. Fred Meyers department store carries the grills for this. We added two of the pot type grills to our collection as we progressed through our travels.

They best way to properly perform a leak test on a gas appliance is to:
1. Pressurize the system by completely opening the tank valve,
2. Make sure the control knobs are turned off,
3. Use a certified gas leak detector & check all hoses & fittings.

Can I use the ceramic or lava rock briquettes rather than just the burners?

Sorry bro, you'll kill the burner mechanisms if you try to use charcoal or lava rock briquettes in these things. They're designed for propane, and pretty much propane alone.

I know there are some grill makers that do make charcoal + gas combo grills, you'll have to do some shopping around.

Great grilling

High quality, works great, easy to use and cleans up in a snap. Good for people with a small deck or patio. We like our Roadtrip Pro for the motor home because it rolls and it is easier to move around. We are very happy with both.

Great Multipurpose & Multiuse Grill

By:
May 23, 2008

I recently bought this particular Grill because I moved downsized from a 3-bedroom large yard home; to a 2 bedroom, 2nd floor balcony condo. I had limited space on the 2nd floor balcony, and my large gas grill which I had at my home wouldn't fit, it was simply too big and wide. So I was searching for a grill that would fit on the balcony along with a small round glass top table and 2-matching chairs, as well as a dog pet-a-potty box. The Roadtrip Grill fit the bill. It was the perfect size. Anothe nice feature is the fact that it will fold down for storing inside in winter months. Also, I purchased the cover for outside storage and the cover is a good quality heavy durable cover. I'm very happy with the entire unit and would definitely recommend the Roadtrip Grill to anyone with space constraints. Coleman products have a great reputation and seem to be built to last. Thank you, D. Phillips, Arlington Heights, IL
