After being a loyal fan of both Reef and Teva Mush flip flops, I found a pair of Chaco Flip on sale and decided to give them a shot. Overall, I've concluded that while the Chaco Flip is not as comfortable as the Reefs and Tevas, they are much more durable.
I'll start with the soles. In the past I've easily worn through at least one pair of Tevas/Reefs each summer. The Chacos, on the other hand, sport Vibram soles and are very durable. They seem as though they will last for many years. Unfortunately, this durability comes at the expense of comfort and weight. In contrast to the the soft, squishy, light (3.4 oz) foam sandals I have worn in the past, the Chaco soles have a rough, hard, heavy (10.4 oz) design. At 3 times the weight of my old sandals, I am still adjusting to them. In addition to the durability of the soles, they have a better ergonomic fit and become grippier when wet which is a plus if you plan on wearing them in wet conditions. I've found that foam sandals get very slick when wet and provide little or no support. The strap is not as soft as the strap on Reefs and Tevas, but it is well made and fits well. I found no need to size up or down. Lastly, the sandals are more expensive than the foam variety, but this is warranted as they are likely to last much longer. All in all, these are very stylish and well-made sandals. If you are used to heavier shoes you will have no problem with them and will love the legendary Chaco durability and quality. However, if you like the squishy, soft feeling of lightweight foam flip flops (ala Teva Mush), I would suggest trying them on before pulling out your credit card.

These are my 2nd out of 3 pairs that I owe. These are the classic style of 'island' essential. I have wide feet with low arch profile. I would say that these are good quality construction. The comfort is not as cushy as some other brands but they have good traction on the urban sidewalk and some mild trails. I would recommend these for lazy Sunday but not your daily commute.

Quality material marred by high arch (uncomfortable with each step) and heavy feel. I've owned many sandals with quality material and lightweight.

For many years I was a devoted Rainbow customer. Recently I realized I needed something with a bit more support so I picked up a pair of Chaco Flips and instantly new my allegiances had changed for good.

These things are head and shoulders above all other sandals. Screw sandals that have a bottle opener on them, use your damn keys. if you want comfortable sandals that last a lifetime, Chaco all the way.

These are the most durable and comfortable sandals I have ever worn. I'e owned a pair previous to this pair for years but was needing a new pair. I was grateful to have found a pair for such a low price!

i think i bought these sandals one size too big, but i still love them. after living in flip flops for two years as a peace corps volunteer on a pacific island for two years and continuing to do so in grad school for another couple of years, i was a Reef fan. they were relatively durable and relatively comfortable... until i got into a pair of Chacos. i always loved the foot bed of Chaco sandals, but their straps always rubbed me raw; so i stopped wearing mine. when i saw they had flip flops, i bought a pair immediately. i'm a huge fan. like many other reviews have pointed out, my feet aren't as tired when i take them off at the end of the day. the flip flops don't fall off my feet when my feet get wet (like they do in Reefs). and i don't slip in when i wear them in the rain. the traction is great. also, the support is pretty good too - not a lot of soft cushion like with reefs, but much better support.
overall, i would recommend these to everyone, so long as they get the right size. i bought them a little big, but still love them and will wear them whenever i can!

these could be the best flip flop style sandals I've ever had. They're super comfortable and the soles on them are awesome for wearing everywhere. I took other reviews recommendations of getting a size bigger, but I don't think you need to once the straps stretch out and break in. Mine are a little big, but they fit fine and i'm happy with the purchase. They seem super durable and like they'll last a really long time.

These are the best, most comfortable flip flops ever made. I've tried everything from $4 foam flops to Reefs and they all pale in comparison to these.
The Chaco footbed hugs the contours of your foot for all day comfort. I've walked miles in the Flips without experiencing any foot fatigue.
I was a little leery of the fabric they use to go between your toes. At first it felt coarse but I have not experienced any problems with it.
I'm going on three years with my first pair and they are still holding strong.

Best slide sandal I have ever owned. Worth the premium price. Very good looking. A little hard on the feet but getting more comfortable with wear.

I got a pair of these after doing research on footwear that "actually" support your feet and don't just "look good". Chaco's are the BEST sandals my feet have ever stomped on! I'm a TOTAL convert. Goodbye Tevas, goodbye Reefs, and especially my meager pile of 3.99 fly by night flip-flops!!! Anyone need x-tra thick beach-themed drink coasters....seriously...
I wore these religiously walking the uneven streets of Playa Del Carmen, Cancun and Cozumel for 4 days straight. My feet were not as tired, they did not feel as sore and my arches were not cursing at me! This was a real test, I walked on the sandy beaches, got them wet repeatedly, cobble stone streets, toured Tulum in them, trotted through the cenote riddled mayan-owned jungles, shopped the overly-commercialized streets and even took them dancing on Playa Del Carmen's 5th street for about 6 hrs. After all that, feet were as happy as I was.
In terms of durability, they are outstanding. After my 2-week trip, the vibram soles showed NO WEAR...almost like I never wore them...AWESOME! They are very comfortable and they DID ACTUALLY support my arch! The only 'thing' I noticed is that after about 3 days of walking on them they did wear my skin a bit on the outside strap of each sandal. Hard to describe exactly where, outer-lower left on left foot & outer-lower right on right foot. Now this is MY fault because I took a flip-flop when I should have been wearing a trail-shoe or maybe even a boot. Being a former Teva & Reef man myself, the Chaco flip's straps do come back a bit farther than the average sandal, in order to create a more stable platform, however this is also what rubbed the skin on my feet raw. No blood or anything but it was sore and red. I only mention this because I was new to Chaco and this took some adjusting to after about 27hrs of wear. Don't let this deter you one bit, I liked them so much that as soon as I got back I bought myself another pair!!! A stylin' beach bum...am I
Chaco will resole or custom fit them if you so desire. Needless to say I'm moving in on the Chaco Z's now and they are all worth every penny. Plus Chaco is a very green company, for those that care.
Don't take my word for it...Buy a pair, your feet will thank you.

Be sure to order one size larger if you want it to be fairly loose. Overall, a pretty comfortable sandal with the Vibram sole, but the straps are a bit tight for my size 11 feet. I should probably have gotten the size 12.

But these are way nice! I have been a loyal Chacoite for 6 years and have never liked the whole nylon between my big toe, this is really comfy though. I usually wear a size smaller in a sandal, but for the flip I am true to size. no need to size up or down.

I am happiest when in flip flops. If I can wear them all year round i would. Just moved to Thailand and now I can. These flips are so comfortable and give me enough arch support that I can wear them every day and get no foot or back pain as other have given me. I'm strongly recommend.

This flip flop is the best out there! I wear them all the time and they double as great hiking and approach shoes. The sole is tough and sticky; you won’t feel stones poking though from the trail. There is a bit of a break-in period that may give you a small sore from the webbing, but if you make it though that you will love them for a very long time!

These are probably the best pair of slip-on sandals I have ever owned. The strap attachment that fits between the two front toes could be a little shorter to hold the foot in place a little tighter, but not a big deal since these aren't the kind of sandals you wear hiking. Chaco rocks!

These are great sandals! And the price is worth it. The contour of the sandal hugs the feet nicely and makes them very comfortable to wear. And they look nice too! The beady surface feels great on the bottom of the feet and it is non slippery. I wear them all the time with jeans or pajamas they look great with anything. Get em!

This Chaco Flip looks really good, but it is not a sandal I would choose for all-day comfort. The sizing does run large. Typically Chacos are great!

Thus far, they rock. The simple fact that they don't start to stink when they get wet makes them worth it. Plus, they get have pretty good traction, they don't slip as much as most others.

No "High Performance Flip Flop" isn't a political tactic, and though it may sound oxymoronic, it is precisely what separates the Chaco flip sandal from your average three dollar drugstore variety. Anyone who isn't seeing a therapist for severe control issues can appreciate the ease, comfort, and simplicity of a flip flop, but dependability is not usually an attribute that allows them to be used for more than beachwear. The flip is the exception; with Vibram replaceable soles, durable fitted straps, and anatomically correct footbeds, this thong won't leave you high and dry halfway down your next river trip.

There's not much one can say about these flip flops other then they're GRRRREEEAAAAT. Incredibly comfortable, both in the toe strap region and in the adequate padding of the shoe itself. After owning these shoes for a month, I can say that I would go anywhere in these that I would go in tennis shoes.
Order a size or two up though if you like that extra flip in your flop. I got a 12 and usually wear a 10-11, and the 12 was perfect.

Great sandals; I've worn the full-foot ones before and liked them, but were a little too confining. Right now I'm living and working in Sri Lanka and wearing them every day. They just keep getting more comfortable! Buy these sandals if you’re looking for a sturdy, comfortable flip flop. They have great Vibram soles, the toe curls up a bit for protection, and the strap goes way back on the side of your foot for stability and security.

These are definately not the first pair of flip-flop style sandals that I've bought, but they probably are the last! the comfort and durability I have found in these is wonderful and I can't imagine them falling apart or getting those foot indentions any time in the near future. Very good buy!

Just imagine a slipper that can get wet and dirty but not slippery. And when they're dirty just step into the river to clean them off. I am going places with these I've never before gone with flip flops. FITTING can be funky. If you have a narrow foot or you want them to fit tight go with your normal size. But if you want them to fit like a hawaiian flip flop or have a high volume foot go 1 full size up. Also the footbed on this sandal is shorter than the same size Z1 or Z2. If you spend alot of time outdoors and want a durable flip flop, you can't go wrong here.

It's awesome Chaco is making a flip-flop now. These are very comfortable inspite of a thin sole. A contoured fit gives a stable ride. Sweet sandals!

Good solid feel. A little tight on the fit because I have think feet and I think these sandals were designed to fit tightly to normal-size feet.
