I am also wondering, like Chris, if in the summer you could remove the bladder from the insulation to save space?

Yes, the bladder can be removed from the shell. Seperating the two allows easier cleaning.

This isn't a pack, it's an insulated Camelbak reservoir so that it doesn't freeze in winter. This would go in a hydration-compatible pack.
