No more wet chest

This valve was an excellent upgrade to my hydration hose. I often carry a tight-fitting pack which means extra pressure on the bladder and a leaky hose. The Hydrolock has been a great little upgrade at cutting off that unwanted flow, thus keeping my chest and leg nice and dry.

Design flawed!

I'm now looking at buying the 3rd one. The "valve" on both of my first 2 has started to leak. I used to be a fan of Camelbak, but considering that this little valve costs 1/4 of the price of a new reservoir I'd say I'm getting ripped off...and have now bought a Nalgene reservoir to try out.

need the lock

It's definitely good to have a lock to stop accidental leaks. The bend in the shape does help make drinking a little more comfortable.

Worth the money

The on/off lock has been superb to ensure water doesn't leak from my hydration pack. The elbow shape hasn't made any particular different with my set-up, however it doesn't change the fantastic experience. In addition the ability to control flow rate (by releasing it to full or halfway) has been a great. I highly recommend this Hydrolock especially for the difference it makes for a small cost.

Cool idea for the mouthpiece - I've had this feature on my camelbak for well over a year now and still have yet to have a problem

Was an excelent choice...

This is a must have In my Opinion. It works great at shutting off the water. However when the valve is in the Off position the yellow lever is jutting off to the side. Just asking to get mud and rocks jammed behind it (especially if you take your pack off frequently and drop it in the mud)

Great upgrade

I put this on my hydration hose to finally stop it from leaking all over me. Guess what -- it worked! While it does make it a little trickier to feed the hose through hydration sleeves and what not, it'll still go through w/out having to take it off -- you just have to work with it. Great product. I highly recommend it.

Great Product

This product is great - it really does stop the water from leaking out when it's in your pack. Although it's a pain that you have to take it off to remove the water bag from your pack. Overall a great product!!!!

Good

I bought this because my other one started leaking, it lasted 4 years or so before it started to leak, it only started to leak because I put it in boiling water after mold gathered in it when I forgot to clean it in Central America, so I ruined it myself, I guess I got what was coming to me. Oh well, I bought this and it works great! Thumbs UP!

This was a no brainer, as much as I love my CamelBak, I have always lost water through the bite valve, whether it me or the product (don't know). but... I live in the desert and lost water is NO GOOD!!

wet bag begone

By: JohnGchrist(341)
December 12, 2006

I got one of these because I always seemed to be loosing my water all over my front seat due to it being accidentally set on the bite valve. This has fixed the problem, but if it freezes on you, it's kind of a pain to get clear.

After squishing my CamelBak hose and getting my pack wet I decided to purchase the ergo hydrolock to avoid leakage again while traveling with my pack and losing much needed water. It is supper easy to work and the design places the mouthpiece in a much better position for drinking. Highly recommend!

Saved my bacon (and my water)

By: Dave Baines(2)
August 21, 2006

I've always hated the squishy mouth piece on my camelback as when ever I put down my pack or roll over in my tent, I end up loosing a bunch of water and soaking my gear. Not now with the simple solution. I just finished a 14-day backpack trip in the sub-arctic where clean water was scarse. After filtering my water I didn't want to loose any. I didn't. The extra step before a drink didn't slow me down at all and it gave me great peace of mine.....q

Works great with filter

This works great with my Katadyn Hiker Pro. I pull off the bite valve and plug in the filter to back-fill the bladder while it is still in my pack.

Conserve water

By: Backcountry reviewer: JWing(53)

Don't you hate it when you and your friends throw your packs in the car and when you get to the trailhead you've found that your bite valve was pinched open and now all your water is soaked into your friends' gear? It won't happen if you have this valve.

No more water loss

By: Ergolock(2)

This new addition to my water pack is a must have. They lock on the newer versions, which I love, so I purchased this lock for my older model. No more water loss for this hiker!
