What weight/thickness is this fleece? Is it 300 weight? I understand the Gore laminate helps the windchill but in zero wind, it's the fleece thickness that keeps you warm.

Insulation is measured in grams on many coats. "Fill" for down. This will block the wind but you will need to order it big enough to get some underarmor and perhaps another long sleeve under it. Also, this is not a "shell" you way want a shell for waterproofness.

This hoody will definately keep you warm below freezing, the windstopping layer will help keep alot of warmth in. I dont know what the coldest temp it can withstand, but i wouldnt not make it my primary jacket, and i wouldnt even bring it in the backcountry. Its just a casual sweatshirt with some extra tech, not something to depend on.
