Burton Driver X Snowboard Boot - Men's
If you're on the prowl for a super stiff, seriously powerful boot that won't wuss out on hair-raising big mountain lines, stop prowling. The Burton Men's Driver X Snowboard Boot has found its way to you. This is Burton's stiffest, most supportive boot. Burton designed the Driver X with a J-Bar adjustable heel-hold system to lock down the back of your foot for better performance whether you're hiking or holding your toe edge around a backcountry boulder. On frosty morning ascents, the rubber toe cap protects your toe as you kick steps, and the soles' rubber ice spikes give you necessary traction for climbing. When you're flying down a hanging snowfield, the Powershell reinforcement panels support like crazy. Integrated gel cushioning absorbs impact on cliff hucks. *Available for U.S. Shipment Only.
Bottom Line: Are you a big-mountain snowboarder with a death wish? Well, so is the Burton Driver X Boot.

I have been riding Burton Ion boots for the last several years, and was very happy with them. This year, I bought a Lib Technologies TRS Magne-Traction 167 board, and changed my angles to 60 on the front, and 40 on the back. The Ions just did not have the side-to-side ankle response that I needed. I replaced them with new Burton Driver-X boots, and the side-to-side response, and front-to-back response, is immediate. I am riding better than ever with these new boots. Getting in and out of the boots with Burton's side-pull lacing system is so nice. Tightening the laces is so easy that I don't even take off my gloves. I now find myself pulling them tight before each run. It has been like switching to power steering.

These are NOT for everyone. In fact, for those who have wide flat feet Driver would hurt you. I've tried expand the sixth toes part a bit but did not work that much. As far as stiffness goes, they are great for backcountry riding and have pretty good traction while hiking uphill. One more thing is that the liner itself is NOT great, so I'd say... ditch them and replace to softer version of Intuition Liners. Overall, for ones with narrow long feet and would love to go off-piste, these are one of the best on the market. But, again NOT for everyone.

Really stiff. Not for narrow feet.

Yes, I snapped the laces after 12 days. What's more disappointing is that these boots seem to completely hurt my feet on the outside fronts I have never had this happen with any other snowboard boots or any footwear for that matter. No heat molding. Without heat molding, you have to break these in, but by the time they're broken in, the laces snap. Disappointing. I have bought other boots and I am sending these back to Burton. Yes, these things are the stiffest things out there. I am an expert and could handle them, but these are not beginner or even intermediate boots in my opinion. I am going with something a bit softer that's more comfortable.

Awesome boots! Exactly what I was looking for! Great rigidity for better board control in tight stuff. The boots transfer the energy right into the legs and relax the ankles. Appreciated in the Cascades concrete snow... They are a little narrow though.

Being a big mountain rider I love these boots. Just like they say they are stiff I ride them in the morning then switch into some looser boots (like the DC judge) when the good lines are gone. They are not made for the park they are made for people who want direct contact with the board and want no free movement. I wear a size 14 but got them in a 13 (cause that’s all they had) and they are perfect they will size to your feet and you want them really tight. These are not for people who don’t like steep lines or deep powder. They are nice for hiking and feet stay warm all the time. If your looking for a stiff boot you cant get any better then this!

The third or fourth time I tried to tighten the speed lacing system on the right boot I heard a "snap." I was left with a broken, black lace held together by frayed, white nylon, or whatever the insides of those black laces are made of. I still gave it three stars 'cause it is as stiff as advertised. I like Burton's stuff, but I'm starting to question the durability. I've also got an '07-08 Custom X. I've used it twice, both times in Mammoth, CA over Thanksgiving weekend. Conditions weren't ideal, but I've got a small gouge in the fragile-looking topsheet on the heelside edge. There were some stray rocks jutting out of the thin snow base, so maybe it was my fault. It does make me wonder, though . . .

This boot is very stiff. Almost as stiff as a ski boot. Well designed and the liner is very comfortable but it will take some time to break in. Not so bad with forward motions, but it took me awhile to get it to a comfortable side to side flex.
