Burton AK 2L Cyclic Jacket - Men's

Great lightweight jacket. Perfect for spring days or even just those rainy days when you're not out riding. Has all of Burton's great "gadget" features like google pocket and ipod pocket, pass pocket, pant to jacket interface, etc. The lining really slides nicely agaist base layers too making your range of movement feel great. The only thing I didnt like about the jacket is its cut VERY slim. I have several Burton jackets in XL that fit just fine but this one makes me feel like a fatass...

I bought this jacket for a trip to Squaw Valley in late March early April, spring conditions, temperatures reached the mid 50's during the day and it got into the 20's at night. The jacket performed excellently both on the slopes and off. Completely waterproof, warm if you need it to be with layers and keeps you cool when things get hot. As always the service on this site's end was great.

I ordered a size large. It felt small to me around the waist. My current jacket is the Analog Boundary Jacket and it fits great. I just re-ordered a size XL hopes that fit better. And for the pit vents it's true what people have mentioned. It's gonna take a little getting use to. This website is the best.

I think this jacket is awesome. Simple styling, Gore-Tex for under 300.00, and good construction. The person who thought the jacket was too long apparently doesn't snowboard. You need a long jacket when reaching up and spinning. I hiked up Mt. Mansfield in sleet and stayed dry and didn't sweat at all. The pit zips are a little stiff, but loosen up after about a day.

Don't be fooled it is a shell but it performed great for me in weather in Colorado cold. Just add a base layer & maybe another long sleeve which is optional and you are good to go. Super wicked light and stops all winds, rain, & snow from getting in. Glad I bought it.

After getting pelted by heavy wet snow last season and getting sick because my jacket was not Gore-Tex I decided to up my gear. I did a lot of research in regards to Gore-Tex jackets and this jacket is by far the least expensive on the market. It is very hard to find a snowboarding Gore-Tex jacket that is less than $300. I have put it to the test on the Appalacians, Rockies and at Tahoe and it far surpassed my expectations. Simplicity at its best. Throw on a midweight or expedition-weight first layer and you are set. It was so nice that I bought it twice. I have it in Red Rock and picked up the True Black. Also it is a snowboarder-specific jacket designed by one of the elite snowboard companies and it has a lifetime warranty. Just get it and never worry about a wet day again.

this shell has been with me twice now out here in the dead of new england winter. once i was alpine climbing in the white mountains, and another time boarding out here. its gore-tex, and it wont let you down, but its rather basic. its got a mesh liner, so you better have a good insulation jacket to put underneath. i use the north face redpoint jacket and it works well, although the attachment points to the shell dont line up because im mixing brands. the fit is really nice and cut to fit close to your body while leaving enough room for the underlayers. the sleeves are cut long and slim, so they will be sure to overlap any gloves you wear. i got the truant orange, and in the picture it looks yellow when it is really bright hunting orange. not a bad choice overall if you need a reasonably priced gore tex shell, and it worked well while climbing too. used it while i was butt-sliding down the mountain to keep me dry. although the piece of cardboard inside the pass holder was soaked.

The author of "Do Not Buy!!" got a bit carried away. He has a point about the pitzippers. The right pitzip especially was a little distracting to me when I wore the jacket around the house. But I realized a couple hours into my first snowboarding session with it on that I didn't even notice the pitzips. It does what it advertises and looks pretty cool, too, but the aforementioned reviewer's "steeze" comment is over the top. If anything, this is Burton's anti-steeze line, other than the price. Check out the Shaun White and Ronin lines for steeze points. The AK Cyclic is actually rather plain with minimal IDs. Not like the AK Stagger, which has "AKs" all over it. Burton's stuff runs big, so get a smaller size.

This is an overpriced, poorly made, poorly designed piece of outerwear. This jacket is way too long and is not designed for any serious backcountry or active snowsports ventures; at most, it is for trying to get points for "steeze" at the local resort. The pit zips are so poorly made that when you are wearing the jacket with them closed, the zippers stick into your armpits, making the jacket very uncomfortable. The jacket is not very packable and seems heavier than most Goretex Pro Shell jackets. The only saving grace is that I bought it from this retailer, who I can depend on for fast shipment and fast returns processing.

The AK line is high end Burton wear typically in a no frills way. You will get functional stuff without a lot of bling. What I like about this jacket is the clean, non flashy look and trim fit. That probably will not appeal to everyone but suits me just fine. The jacket has the features I need and the Gore-Tex has been as advertised so far. I am warmer in my new clothes than before, in part because the Gore-Tex seems to block wind better. It is still a bit early in the season, and therefore not warm enough yet for the Tahoe snow to be really wet but so far, I am bone dry while I see others walking around with wet butt. Of course, I never really had a problem with that in my old gear either as I am not one for sitting around on the snow.
