Burton AK 3L Hover Jacket - Men's

When Burton handed the AK 3L Hover Jacket to their pro riders, they were blown away. Using Gore-Tex fabric and minimalist design, the AK 3L Hover delivers Burton's highest level of storm protection Want to ride in the rain, a blizzard, or under a blue sky? Do it. Burton taped the seams with 8mm tiny tape to guarantee not a drop gets through the AK 3L Hover Jackets waterproof armor, even though this jacket weighs next to nothing. In warmer conditions, unzip this Burton shell's Crossflow Air Injection system. The system connects four strategically placed vents into a single wind tunnel to distribute air throughout the entire interior. Burton finished off the 3L Hover Jacket by giving it a Pass Pocket, waist gaiter, and micro fleece lined handwarmer pockets. *Available for US shipment only.

Bottom Line: The Burton AK 3L Hover Jacket—next level technology for every rider.

Good Construction for Boarders, Ltd. Helmet Compatability

By:
September 27, 2008

I have the 07/08 model. It's well made. Cross-flow vent system is designed for boarders, not skiers (it's Burton, after all). Zippers are fussy and tend to catch, so you have to work with them a bit. My only significant gripe with the jacket is that, although the medium fits me fairly loose, I can't zip the jacket all the way up when I'm wearing a helmet under the hood (and I use a low profile Bern helmet).

Best For Extreme Conditions

By:
February 10, 2008

What can I say about Burton's AK 3L Hover Jacket? This jacket delivers in extreme conditions! The jacket has no insulation and I've used it with a fleece pullover over a t-shirt over a long T and I was warm and dry when I was shreding at Seven Springs weeks ago. But, I seriously think the BK Insulator Jacket works even better when worn under this jacket. The vents in the back are so awesome for snowboarding, even better than pit vents. The price is a steep but you have to pay for both purpose and fashion.

DOES EXACTLY WHAT ITS SUPPOSED TO

By:

This jacket is a shell, it does not provide any warmth beyond trapped body heat. Dont expect to throw this on over a t-shirt and be comfortable in cold weather. The jacket is completely impervious to wind/water/snow, pretty much anything you can throw at it. I normally use 2 layers under the shell, a mid-weight The North Face vaporwick long sleeve shirt and North Face 1/4 zip softshell. This combo has kept me warm in the worst conditions.

Mixed

The jacket seems to be of superb built - very neat seams and seals; looks good too, in spite of its raincoat-like color (a greenish yellow rather than the yellow that appears in the picture). Bought it for my husband, but he did not like it, claiming it's not warm enough, as it is just a shell without any padding. Maybe with the right underlayers, it will work.

Perfect

Clean lines, waterproofing at zippers, Gore-Tex. Would be great in the backcountry . The perfect jacket if you're not trying to draw attention away from your riding...

great jacket

it's thin and lightweight, and has some excellent vents and pockets. not had a chance to use it outside yet but i think i'd need layers if it's really cold as it has no insulation. nice jacket
