This jacket is a 13 on the Burton warmth scale which is the same rating as their down jackets. But... it's even better than the down. I cannot feel the wind in the Rotor jacket but sometimes I do feel it blowing through me in my down jacket. The Rotor jacket also doesn't have that stay puff marshmallow feel. It's thin and lightweight.I stayed absolutely dry too. I love that this jacket zipped together with the AK pants so there's no riding up on the snow skirt and my back stays snow free and no cold drafts. Love it!

Flag

you'll definitely be warm in this, however for a casual winter jacket this may be more then you need. the burton AK stuff is all super technical which is why it costs more then most of their other jackets.
