The compact Brunton Raptor unfolds three arms into a good-sized platform on which you'll be able to balance your big pots without fear of losing your stew. Made of sturdy stainless steel and with a piezo-electric starter, the Raptor is easy to use, reliable, and powerful. Precise control lets you simmer like a pro or go to inferno mode and boil water fast. At a dainty 5 ounces, there's no good reason not to take the Brunton Raptor along on your next backpacking trip. *Self ignites at altitudes below 8,000 feet. Bring a lighter for higher altitude trips.

Bottom Line: Cook with ease in the backcountry with the lightweight, sturdy, self-igniting Brunton Raptor Stove.

Great stove for the summer/fall

I love it. It is super light and super compact. I don't think it works as well in the cold or when the breeze picks up. I would not recommend taking this guy on a winter expedition. Anywhere else and it is outstanding!

Very good stove.

I have been very happy with this stove. I've used it above 10,000 ft in breezy weather and never had any problem at all. It also works with MRS threaded canisters (though not as efficiently, but good enough in a pinch). It folds up small and nests into my GSI Soloist cook system along with an 8oz canister. However, the auto ignition did not last long. It broke after the use of one 4oz canister to be exact. Nevertheless, I still feel that it's an excellent stove and I would purchase it again and just bring along some matches, since these lighters are notoriously unreliable.

Great buy

I just purchased this stove and put it to use on a trekking trip in switzerland. This stove rocks, it sparked right up immediately at an altitude of 2000 meters with no problems, it didnt have any problems with the wind either. Its light, well built and very fuel efficient also comes with its own case to put it in when your done. Excellent little stove, cooked quite a few times with it and still have plenty of fuel left over from an 8 ounce can. a must buy.

No Flaws

I love this stove. Very compact. The Piezo lighter has never failed me on numerous multi day trips in the Wind Rivers, Yellowstone, and Grand Canyon. Fine Grand Canyon sand had no negative effects on its reliability. It ignited at 11,000+ in the Wind Rivers with no need for backup lighter. The soft padded case fits inside my titanium mug I use to cook with and a small fuel canister sits upside down for snug packing. Very creative folding design. Adjust easily from simmer to jet blast.

Best of the best, all weather stove.

Raptor has rocked the last 2 years of trips. Backpack, sea kayak, backcountry ski, raft, car camping... it just can't be stopped. Small and lightweight, powerful, and consistent. I love the auto-ignite, great to get things moving quickly - no priming, etc. My only complaint is the waste produced by using non-refillable fuel cans. I hope we can find a way to eliminate this excess and refill the canisters :)

This is the best lightweight backpacking stove!

Got this stove to replace my Pocket Rocket that I got a severe burn from, and cant stop raving about this little monster! Pay attention to this little guy, and don't let the size fool you, this stove can burn hot, and boils water very fast, by the time you have your coffee press set, it will be time to pour! This cooks quick, and is easy to use with the nice handy twist valve and the Peizo igniter. An 8 oz can lasted 5 days in Escalante and there was still fuel left over. Cools very fast too! Worked at 10,000 feet in the Uinta's. Get one for those backpack condo adventures!

This stove is lightweight, compact and does a pretty good job on fuel consumption. Starts easy and is very low maintenance. I would recommend this for any kind of excursion that you want to limit weight on.

Good stove. Period

I purchased one of these a year ago and absolutely use and abuse it. I don't take care of it at all and neglect it almost every time I use it. But, it has never failed me yet. It is easy to use and very very light. I have used both the MSR Pocket Rocket and this stove. I would pick this one every time. You can put large pots on it, but not huge. Basically if you can fit it in your pack, you can probably fit it on this stove.
