Black Diamond Mondo Crash Pad

The incredibly well padded Black Diamond Mondo Crash Pad has become on of the most popular choices for protecting the tallest, scariest, highball boulder problems around. One solid inch of closed-cell foam caps four inches of open-cell foam for a beefy five inch thick landing zone that is nearly impossible to bottom out through. Ample surface area (44 x 66in) also creates a big target, so if you do decide to drop off from 25 feet you'll have a much better chance of hitting the pad. A flat-hinged design makes the Mondo a lot easier to fold shut and easier to carry to your secret spot. Believe it or not, this thing actually fits in the backseat of most cars—the whole backseat. Aluminum buckles, reinforced corners, and double-stitched seams add years to the life of a pad that's meant to get a beat down.

Bottom Line: Make sure the Black Diamond Mondo Crash Pad sits underneath your highball project when you pitch from the topout.

I've been bouldering in a gym for a while now and i want to get out onto the real thing. should i get a big expensive pad or can i get by on something smaller and cheaper?

If you don't want to spend the cash check out BD's other smaller pads like the Impact. That's what I have and I love it. Also, look at Metolius pads like the Cheap Bastard and Fat Bastard. However, if you see yourself bouldering much in the future, buy this pad. It's fantastic. Especially, if you're only going to have one pad, get this thing. It's huge, thick, and burly.

Monsterous!

This pad is huge! It will protect just about any problem on it's own. It definitely looks huge on me though (I'm 5'1"). High quality though.

STOKED ON THE MONDO!!!

I Can't say enough great things about it. From a sick spill from the 12 to 15 face to the drunken friends needing a place to sleep instead of the floor this thing is a all in one. The comfort carrying is greatly enjoyed. invest in a great product.

Awesome (and huge)

This thing is huge! It's a nice bit of insurance to have below you for sure. Great for the top layer of a pad stack. A bit hard to fit in my car, but worth it.

cozy

I LOVE my Mondo. It has saved me many times. For hauling something so big on your back it is pretty comfortable too. It is hard to believe I once carried and trusted falling from 15 feet onto a crappy Revolution pad.
