Black Diamond Huey Duffel Bag - 6102-9154 cu in
The Black Diamond Huey Duffle Bag is made with burly Rinotek haul bag material to withstand the abuse of porters, mules, and airline baggage handlers on your expedition. Its large square-shaped opening allows easy access to the giant space inside. The Huey Duffle Bag is available in sizes from a pretty-big 60L (3661cu in) to an absolutely massive 150L (9150cu in). Well-padded removable shoulder straps and end-carry handles make transporting these giant bags easier, and the clear ID pocket increases the chances that you'll actually see your bag again after the airline accidentally sends it to the wrong continent.
Bottom Line: Pack right for your next expedition with help from the ultra-durable Black Diamond Huey Duffle Bag.

I bought the 100L Huey after reading somewhere (probably not here, unless they changed the description) that it is the largest bag that can be checked without being charged for an oversized bag. Most airlines consider a bag with L+W+H > 61" to be "oversize." The 100L Huey is exactly 61" if one uses the AVERAGE width, but not if one uses the _maximum_ width at the base of the bag (the bag is shaped like a trapezoid and the top is narrower than the bottom) Recently flying Airtran from LGA to ATL I was charged the oversized bag fee when the bag was measured at 64". Numerous protests went nowhere and numerous airline representatives confirmed that the policy is to measure the maximum dimension and give no credit for irregularly shaped bags. I was $30 the poorer for my experience. I had previously flown American with the bag (also fully loaded) and was not charged a fee, but that was before oil went above $120 and the airlines went nuts trying to collect additional fees. Two stars because the bag's build is bulletproof, but buyer beware.

I live in CA and ski all over the west. I have gotten tired of lost baggage and waits (with 2 young kids) and so I now fedex my bags everywhere ahead of my trip. I noticed that my cordura duffel bags were getting shredded (much worse than airlines). These bags are indestructible. They also have very few edges that can snag and cause tears. They are perfect for hauling lots of gear, and they look great too. The removable backpack straps are great for dragging stuff from the car, etc...

I've been looking for a bag the will fit all my goodies... and this bag is the hook. its tough as nail and there is room to spare. I have the north face duffel as well and I'm going to retire it now. If your looking for room and great quality this is your fix!

It's maiden voyage was to AK. for a backcountry ski trip in the Tordrillo mtns. Perfect bag for this trip. I need a lot of packing room and the huey provided that. Once on the glacier I needed a bag that could with stand the elements, it did that. Big zippers with easy function was the key as I was wearing mits. Ice was never an issue. It performed as well on the glacier as it did in my living room.

I originally bought this bag as a haul bag for multi-pitch lead climbing. However, as soon as I unpacked it I realized this was no haul bag. The boxy shape and zipper-flap access do not lend well to accessing and dragging gear around the crag all day. Additionally, the pack straps are not accompanied by a waist belt. This makes hauling the loaded beast a bit of a task - not ideal on challenging approaches. After deciding to send it back and opt for the Metolius Quarter Dome, I realized the Huey makes a great general gear bag. Bomber construction, easy access, and tons of room (100L). So, I have decided to keep the Huey as a bomber duffel and get a climbing-specific bag to tote my rack and rope around in.

This bag is very well made and seals the weather out very well. In addition to the regular (commercial) traveling duties, it fits perfectly on the back of a motorcycle for additional gear when camping/journeying.
Thank you!

I have been looking for a rather large duffel for a deployment to Afghanistan. This thing is huge and I like the reinforced ends and the squared bottom of the bag. I also like the double zip top closure and hook-and-loop closures overlapping protection. I have just made my way to Berlin with this thing and the only trouble I have had is how to keep the weight down to not pay the extra weight cost for the airline. Overall, a strong, tough, and durable bag.

I use my Black Diamond Huey duffle bag for wildland firefighting assignments and our entire helitack crew is now using them for travel bags. The outer material is bombproof, seems heavier than 1000 denier Cordura nylon and really well sewn - the bag is beefier and has held up better than my North Face waterproof duffle. This site did a great job of customer service as well. This largest size Black Diamond duffle is more than adequate for loading firefighting gear for a 2 week assignment. Only problem is going over the airlines 50 lb. weight restrictions!

Your own private storage unit. I stuffed my packed 5,000 cu. in. pack into it and still had tons of room for plastic boots and other gear. Very solid construction.
