Nice rope

I got the 70M which is just right for some of the climbs round Colorado Springs. It's a purple rope and not as blue as the one in the picture. I'm used to 11mm but 10.2mm feels sturdy enough and is easy to control in an ATC even for my novice friends. I'm very happy with it and the price I paid too!

Smooth feeding

This rope is pretty great. I've had it for a couple of years now, and have taken at least 8 whippers on it. I just checked it and no flat spots yet! It is incredibly durable and feeds nicely for sport, trad and just top roping.

I bought the 70m dry rope a year ago and don't regret it. My rope has a marked center. The 10.2 is also not too heavy for the standard route. Quality all around.

Great rope for the price. Light weight, easy to feed, and easy to clip. Only taken one fall so far but it was a nice soft catch. The only thing that is a possible deficit is that there is no center marking and there are no markings near the end. Other than that it is the perfect rope for the price. Pretty too

This rope has been great. Feeds well, avoids kinking, and looks pretty nice too. Its a bit thinner than a lot of the ropes out there, so I suggest using a belay device with some extra grab to it - I use Jaws from Trango, and the combination was wonderful.

It has a smooth flow through belay devices, is fairly lightweight, and comes with a rope bag with fold out tarp. I recommend this rope for anyone considering lead climbing.

Beal Edlinger II

November 15, 2007

Great rope! Ties easily and glides through your hands... and I even loved the color that was shipped to me. Feels rather thin for a 10.2 however -- my climbing partners asked if it was a 9.8 at first. Still, you can't beat the value for the price.

This is my 4th rope and I love that I got a 10.2 rope. I love how it fits in all my climbing peices and it doesn't get all junked up. Super rope...definitely good for anyone starting or doing it for 10 years.

Beal Edlinger Rocks

The rope is very dynamic and handles well thru the belay device. It hasn't shredded or ripped apart on a leader fall which pretty much one should expect from a rope! I like it!

Edlinger II 10.2mm Rope

By: Livin~Life (1)
October 8, 2006

Over the past twelve months I have put this rope to the test and I report back with no complaints what so ever. Trust me, I really put this thing through some rope destroying tasks. ~It Held Up~ I wish I could attach a picture to support my claim. Durable, lightweight, and 70 meters in length, will keep this rope apart of my rack. All I can say is, “Amazing Rope; Amazing Price…. Thanks.”

Edlinger 10.2

By: John Torrey (3)
September 22, 2006

This is a sweet rope. The middle marker takes the guess work out of raps. It has a very good hand which makes knotting easy. Light is right too. I might come back to this review and give it a 5 in the future after I've had it long enough to find out what its endurance is like. Other than that this rope is the tops.

Great rope put to the test at the Gunks!

By: John T. Martinez (1)
September 11, 2006

Bought the 70M Dry version, got it on Thursday and spent Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Gunks climbing classics including my first time on "High Exposure" and it poured rain as we rappelled off of "Frog's Head" and my Beal Edlinger II performed flawlessly! I also have to say that Backcountry's customer service is awesome. To my girlfriend's dismay I will be buying more gear from there. Thanks.

Good rope

August 19, 2006

Took a clip to clip fall-felt like heaven. Very abrasion resistant. Coils a bit, but not as much as some. Center mark doesnt last, but at 70m I havent really needed it much. The sheath could be a little more slick, it heats up a belay device and your hands something fierce.

Good rope

May 2, 2006

This is an excellent rope for the money. I had virtually no problems with coiling. The rope is a little fast through an ATC and takes some more pressure to stop a fall but that's just because I'm used to a thiker rope. Overall great rope!

Good so far

I've had the Edlinger for a couple weeks now and it seems to be holding up fine. It handles well without twisting up on you and gives a nice soft catch. If it lasts as long as more expensive ropes, then the price here makes it totally a steal.

Caving - Aid Climbing

Caving is extremely hard on ropes. I bought this rope because it was the cheapest thing that I could find. The rope seems to hold up to the abuse that we through at it.

November 3, 2005

This is a great rope. Everyone that has used it says it is one of the best ropes they have used. It glides right through the rope. The 10.2 size makes a huge difference. People think it is a 9.8. Easy to clip in for belaying and rappelling.

October 5, 2005

I've had the rope for a month now and it feeds beautifully! I took it on a 5 pitch route and it didn't snag too much or feel like it was dragging excessively. It is kinda thin (not bad but harder to rap/belay controllability), my wife has had to start using a leather glove to belay me. Other than that, awesome rope.

Sweet rope!

September 3, 2005

The Beal Edlinger 10.2 Dry Rope is light and handles very well. It actually looks and feels thinner than some ropes advertised as 9.9 or 9.8's, and with the Beal double dry treatment should be extra durable. Thanks for a great deal on a sweet rope!

This rope has one drawback. Using a gri-gri the rope tends to whip through the device extremely fast. Be very cautious in lowering the climber with this rope. My partners wondered if the rope was 9.7 instead of 10.2mm. I’m sure it'll run better with more use.

April 4, 2005

This is a great rope for anyone who does not want to spend a lot to get into the sport. The stretch makes falling comfortable and it runs through an ATC very well. One might actually consider using a high friction ATC with this rope

good rope

By: Gregg (2)
June 29, 2004

Its a good rope, first one I've ever purchased. Wouldn't mind one a little thicker as 10.2mm does not catch in belay device as much as say a 10.5, so you have to be more on the ball with belays and catching a fall takes a tighter grip. Other than that, no complaints.
