Black Diamond Fitzroy Tent 3-Person 4-Season

The Fitzroy tent has become a Bibler classic, sought after by mountaineers and backpackers for both its strength and roominess. The Fitzroy tent combines four Easton 7075 aluminum poles, seven pole intersections and a low profile to create a tent able to withstand the most angry storm. Weighing only 6 pounds, the Bibler Fitzroy tent provides the stability of a Mack truck with plenty of room for two people and gear. Much lighter than any other four-season tent in this size range, the Fitzroy tent has been designed to maximize headroom and usable floor space. Bibler's two-door construction ensures excellent ventilation during the summer and allows easy entry and exit, especially when winter camping. The tops of both doors on the Fitzroy have pole-supported awnings that cover zippered vents for controlled cross-ventilation, even in the worst conditions. Bibler's innovative three-point equalizing guy lines stake out each side of the tent in strong winds. Mesh pockets sewn inside hold easily lost items. As with all Bibler Tents, there are no pole sleeves to thread, so setup takes less than two minutes.

Bottom Line: Sleep with a legend.

Fitzroy Tent

I bought this tent about 4 months ago and used it few times since then. It is a great tent, easy to set up (maybe you will have to get use to it). I used it even during the rain storm: this tent kept me warm, dry and stayed sturdy. It is necessary to seam seal it before first use and the tent is definitelly not for three people, it seems quite small even for two - I used it just for myself and felt comfortable as I like more space. Otherwise this tent is perfect. I am not worry to use my tent this summer during my trip through Canadian Rockies or next year in Alaska.

I've used this tent for about eight years on everything from overnight backpacking trips to week long mountaineering and it's absolutely bomb proof. I've owned tents by Mt. Hardware, TNF, Noall and worked in outdoor retail over 10 years and no tent has impressed me as much as the Fitzroy, I'll always have a Bibler for the trips where I don't want to worry about what the weather throws my way. In good weather it opens up enough to stay cool, in rain it vents well with no condensation, and in the truly bad stuff it's drum tight and solid.

I bought this tent for my husband. He said that his friend he most often backpacks with has this tent, and that it is a GREAT tent and a great gift. Except he and his friend find the tent not super easy to set up. Everything else about the tent is great though. :)

Up Date Bibler Fitzroy

Had an opportunity to use the Fitzroy on a rainy camping trip. It held up beautifully. No leaks and no seepage to the inside. After using the Fitzroy about ten times it appears to be a great four season tent. It didn't have any problem with condensation buildup on the inside, either. This tent is a keeper.

This tent is fairly easy to set-up just do it at home before taking it on a camping trip. Having to seam seal a tent as expensive as this one is a bit disappointing. But if it keeps it waterproof I guess it is worth it. A bit small for two large adults. My son and I found it snug and he is only ten years old. It did not build up any condensation with both ends slightly vented and a pack towel hanging from one of the poles. Did not get a chance to test it in a downpour. That will be the ultimate test. I will up date when I'm out in a rain storm!
