Backcountry.com Prime Power Stretch Pant - Women's
Tired of freezing on your winter dawn patrol? Layer up with the Backcountry.com Women’s Prime Power Stretch Pant for the extra insulation you need. Polartec Power Stretch fabric provides a body-hugging fit that layers well under your shells. A low-key logo hit on the cuff reminds you that like the Goat, it too is a reclusive animal. These close-fitting midlayer pants love yoga, too.
Bottom Line: Hot pants.

Wicked Cozy, interesting waist band.

These are now my wife's most comfortable pants in her collection. They're extremely soft both inside and out, and they're lasting really well. The only trippy thing about these pants is the waist band. Like people have said it is stitched at the front and the back. That's a little odd, but it was easily remedied with a needle and some thread. That took care of the issue no problem. They do run a little big in sizing so you may consider dropping down a size. Great pants though, none the less!
Great Replacement for Those OId Sweatpants

I recently bought these pants for a trip to Europe, and they were priceless. I wanted something to keep me warm at night in the hostels, dry quickly, and be appropriate for mixed-dorm rooms and for running downstairs before they took away free breakfast (e.g. not skin-tight thermals). These are ridiculously soft and warm and lightweight, and they dried as fast as my best travel-specific clothing. They would be useful for a multitude of activities in my opinion, and they are pretty flattering. The waistband didn't bother me, and the length/fit of the Smalls were fine on my 5' 3" frame.

the "View Sizing Chart" is another great example of how to figure that question out. Try looking right above the "Add To Cart" button.

Comfy & warm, but...

These pants are made of the most insanely comfortable fabric ever... it's this super thick stretchy fleece/polyester stuff you just want to snuggle with. The material has two very distinct sides: the inside of the pant is plush and fleece-like, while the outside is smooth and has that almost track-jacket look to it. They are definitely warm and ridiculously soft, and I can certainly recommend them in that regard. However, be prepared for the slightly awkward elastic waist-band. There is a large piece of elastic at the top which the pants are folded over and fully sewn around in the back but not in the front. It is quite hard to explain, but the bottom line is, you cannot roll these babies up. That is a problem for me because I have a pretty flat stomach and very shapely (i.e., large) butt, so I often prefer to order a size larger and roll them up. (I am about a size 4, but I buy mediums in "stretchy" pants like these.) Also, the lack of a seam on the front waist looks a little funny (in my opinion). But they are growing on me and they are so comfy that I cannot help but to keep them.
so i have the male version of these and my girlfriend steals
so i have the male version of these and my girlfriend steals them all the time. I was just wondering if the sizing is similar for males. i am 6 feet and usually would get medium but i got a small and snug perfectly long enough. my girlfriend is like 5'7-5'8 and has a big butt, but wears a 6, what size would be best for her? thanks!

Your girlfriend has a big butt? Anyways, the sizing is different for Women's and they won't be as long as the Men's. I'd try the Women's M to get the extra length in the inseam (and for that butt!), though if she usually wears a 6, it might be roomy. Thing is, with the free exchanges, you really can't go wrong with backcountry! Cheers!

Love these pants

I snagged these on steepandcheap for a great deal and I absolutely love them. They are very comfy and warm. I wear them around the house all the time or wear them under my ski pants on the colder days. The waistband is a bit odd as its not sewn all the way around and I've found that the elastic rolls a bit.

I love these pants. They are so comfy and warm and do not attract dog hair. I got them mostly for wearing around the house in the winter and taking the dogs on walks. They do not have enough wind resistance for bicycle commuting in the winter and I think they would be too hot for running, unless it is less than 20F, or so. As others have said, the waist is a bit odd, but the pants were a bit too short for me anyway, so I took out the couple of stitches to add a little length - now they are perfect. I have a 33" inseam.
Can these pants be hemmed on the bottom? Are they made of cotton?

Are they made of cotton? Will they dry out quickly if wet?

They are made of Polartec Power Stretch, so they won't dry quickly.

If you hem them at the bottom, you'll cover over that cute-as-all-get-up Goat. Your choice!

After wearing my husbands around the house, I finally bought my own. They are very warm and soft and work great as a baselayer or look good to just wear around (no you don't have to be too embarrassed to run errands after a day skiing). They are pretty true to size and I didn't think they were quite as boot-cut as the picture makes it look like. The waistband is a bit odd which may make these fit funny on some builds - i'm pretty square with no hips and they are a little baggy in the hip area but otherwise fit great.

I've been looking for these for a long time - so glad to find them here. Got these to replace my Polar Fleece pants. They are a huge improvement in all of these ways - more wind proof, dog hair doesn't cling to them and they are much more stylish. They are also extremely comfortable and have held up to dog claws just fine. I also plan to wear them cross country skiing and just for hanging around. They are a great addition to my winter wardrobe - funny waistband and all. I bought two pairs...

These pants are fantastic. They do have a "funny" waistband, but it hasn't affected the way they fit. I wear them around the house, to class, around town, and just ran a race in them. They are warm and soft, and so very comfortable.
Love everything but the waist

I was anticipating the waist band being a little different from the over reviews, and wasn't shocked at first, but after wearing them for awhile the waist started to bunch in weird spots. I got them for running/walking in the cold and for another layer under my snow pants and love them for that. They keep me warm and comfortable, I think I need to pull out my sewing machine and finish sewing the waist band.

I'm 5'8" with about a 32" inseam, and the length of the medium works well for me.

I got the mediums and have a 33" inseam. I thought they were a bit short, so I unstitched the roll in the waist (took approximately 2min), and now they sit low on my waist and a long enough. Definitely worth the modification for the price.

Awesome...they would have 5 stars if only the waist band was staying flat. It can be messed with..and still soft and somewhat smooth. Otherwise, these pants are so soft and comfy. They fit true to size, a tiny bit on the small side..I can wear xs or s, in these a small is best. Great Backcountry.com brand item, like so many others! Great little Goat on the bottom of the left leg.
Is the fit of these pants pretty true to size and did anyone
Is the fit of these pants pretty true to size and did anyone experience any shinking int he wash?
By: Amy Rowan
December 28, 2008
Polartec doesn't shrink. I find them fairly true to size. I'm a size 8 and the mediums are great. The only issue I've had is the length - they're a little on the short side. But I also have super long legs, so take that with a grain of salt.

The lady has pair and the length is dialed. They flair a little less than the photos make it seem but they still look fantastic -- whether for layering or solo.

When I first got these, I thought they were a litte odd--at least from their feel. However, once I got these puppies on-I find them warm and comfortable--and I particularly like the the way they are cut. Those cute little semi-bellbottoms at the end of the leg are actually a great look. The day that I had them on recently, it was very windy here. They were great--but I was simply out walking.

I counted on reviews when I was considering buying these pants so now that I bought them I thought I would let you know how awesome they are. They are the MOST comfortable pants I own. My boyfriend jokes about me washing them because I nearly live in them. I got them for going on walks and hikes in colder temps and they are perfect for that. I read about the waist band and have to say it doesn't bother me. I cut out the label as it was a bit itchy but that was it. And at 50% off you can't go wrong.
Are these pants wind-resistant at all?

These pants are a steal for $24
They are so warm and comfortable. I normally wear 33 inch pants and these are just long enough in size large for me, i guess the mediums would have been to short.

I bought this for my girlfriend as an early Christmas gift and she absolutely loves them! Since she is petite, I got a size small and it fits her perfect, verrry flattering. She loves the 'boot cut' look and smooth design at the waist. I definitely earned brownie points!

I second everyone else - the waist band is weird, but otherwise these are great pants. If I still skied the east, I'd say they would be great under a shell pant, but in my neck of the woods it rarely gets that cold. I wear 'em at home after a day on the slopes, at the rock gym and once at a snowshoe race.
Waist band needs help, otherwise super cozy
By: Brian B.
January 20, 2009
I bought these for my girlfriend to wear as a cold weather running pant. They've been co-opted into everyday cozy pants, and they perform flawlessly in that regard. However, the waistband is only stitched at the two side seams, and the elastic is folded up just a bit to make the stitch shorter. These two things combined cause the elastic to roll inward, and make the waistband fit very strangely. This was obviously done to achieve a clean-looking line at the waist, but function should come first. Great pants, but they need a reworking at the waist to get more than three stars.

I have been wearing these under my shell style ski pants on the cold days and they have been great. I can even wear them for the rest of the day after skiing. The waist band is a little odd, but not that big of a deal.

Why is this on steepandcheap for $40 (and requires you to pay shipping), when its on backcountry.com for $35 (and currently, there's a free shipping offer)? Makes NO sense.
