Backcountry.com Merino Zip Tee - Long-Sleeve - Men's

We made our Backcountry.com Men's Long-Sleeve Zip Tee with super-fine New Zealand Merino, flat-locked seams, and a ½ zip chest so you can tackle anything from a 5-day backpacking trip to a run around the neighborhood in complete comfort. Given its super-fine 18-micron Merino knit, the naturally odor-resistant Merino Zip Tee feels great as a next-to-skin base layer. Merino transfers your moisture just as well, if not better than most synthetic fabrics, and it won't leave you shivering after a good sweat since wool stays warm even when wet. Bust open the ½ zip neck for a little extra ventilation when you reach the top of your climb or finish your bike ride with a sprint. Thumbholes in the Merino Zip Tee's cuffs help the sleeves stay put when worn as a layering piece, and the contrast side panels put an end to being rubbed the wrong way.

Bottom Line: The Backcountry.com Men's Long-Sleeve Zip Tee leaves stinking synthetic base layers wanting.

This shirt worked perfectly. Kept me warm in the am, and had enough venting with the zipper to cool me off when I got warm. Loooove it!

saved my palms

After purchasing several icebreaker shirts and found most of them exceptional I decided to give the backcountry-tee merino wool version with thumb loops a try. My daily involves water monitoring activities 12 months in Michigan's UP. While traversing a steep, leaf covered rocky slope, my right foot became entangled in a hidden log, stopping my forward motion, and sending me crashing to the rocks, cracking my left petella; however the backcountry merino tee with its extended sleeves protected my palms as they broke the rest my fall with the 50# pack adding to the force of the impact on the rocks. I considered sending it back for a new one as it stained quite badly and ripped from impact, but it still works. Weather was rain and sleet; with Northface coat and the merino shirt next to my skin kept me warm thoughout the ordeal. Slim fits would be better, otherwise a pure bargin......

I'm 6'2" and 215 as well. I like a slimmer fit and go with the large.

The shirt is lightweight, but warm and comfortable. I wear it running around town, running, x-country skiing and snowshoeing. The size was just what I expected. I highly recommend the shirt.

sizing? I've got long arms (35" sleeve length) and generally fit a large unless the arms are short. Anyone got some beta on how this shirt measures for sleeve length?

In a large, the arms should be long enough for you. I wear a medium and also size my dress shirts at 35". It's a snug fit, but by no means stretched or uncomfortable.

Soft + Warm

The Merino zip tee is a great base layer for a day out on the slopes. It's lightweight, warm, soft, and won't stink. It never rubs the wrong way, and combined with a good wind-proof softshell is enough for me to stay warm on a windy, cloudy, 10° powder day at Alta. Yet another gold star for this site.
