Backcountry Access Chugach Pro EXT Shovel - 2007
If you're dealing with big snow and you need a big, bad shovel in your hands, the Backcountry Access Chugach Pro EXT Shovel is the one for you. The oval shaft tube increases prying strength over traditional round tubes, and minimizes fatigue by fitting ergonomically into a gloved hand. The blade on the Chugach Pro EXT Shovel is oversized at 11.25 inches wide by 12.5 inches long, allowing for efficient kicker building, moving Sierra cement quickly off of your hot tub, or that most exciting of shoveling tasks, digging your car out from under a five foot dump.
Bottom Line: Kickers come together quicker with the BCA Chugach Pro EXT.

I love this shovel. very well built and moves a lot of snow. I am having a hard time finding a backpack that I can store this on the outside due to its larger size.
Monstrous...

The blade on this thing is massive!! It may be noticably heavier than other shovels, but if that means I will be able to get to a victim faster by moving more snow then I think carrying the extra weight is worth it. The only negative - On more than one occasion when carrying the disasembled handle on the outside of a pack I have witnessed that the male end of the shovel (the end you attach to the blade) can become packed with enough snow to prevent the user from depressing the button that locks the handle and blade together, thus rendering your shovel useless. All you need is an end covering (duct tape or whatever) to prevent snow from being packed into the handle. With that solved I would give it 4 stars.
