Big Agnes Sunnyside 2-Person 3-Season with Footprint

Roomy and lightweight, the Big Agnes Sunnyside 2-Person 3-Season Tent With Footprint is an ideal shelter for your Grand Canyon or Rocky Mountain camping trip. Set up is a snap with two cross poles and clips. This tent's fly and floor are seam sealed for protection during storms, and the fly creates two large vestibules, so you can keep your boots and pack dry. You could be seven feet tall and still have plenty of room to stretch out in the Sunnyside, which has 36 square feet of floor space. This entire backwoods condo weighs less than five and a half pounds, and two doors and a window provide plenty of ventilation and outdoor views. Two interior pockets let you stash your headlamp, sunglasses, beanie, and other items. This tent comes with a footprint in case you want to leave the tent body behind and pitch a super-lightweight shelter.

Bottom Line: The Big Agnes Sunnyside Tent is your home away from home.

(whew that was a good one) I have had this tent for about six months I have taken it on three extended backpacking trips two down in Western NC on the MST and another one on the MD AT. I really enjoy this tent I love the two doors and have never had a problem with water leaking in. My two complaints are this. It is very hot during the summer. My last trip we were using 20 degree bags and it was about 40 outside. we slept the whole night with the fly open just to keep from burning up. The second problem is the weight. I am used to carrying around 40lbs so its not a big problem for me but lighter would defiantly be better. I do like the tent and im glad that i looked at SAC when i did.

does this tent come with any stakes?

does this tent come with any stakes?

Flag

Yes it does, but depending on your use of the rainfly and how you stake it to position the vestibules will determine how many stakes you'll need. You may need to buy a couple extra.

I'd recommend changing the aluminum stakes for titanium stakes ones. They are much lighter & stronger.

Minor Complaints

I have had this tent for 3 years now. After about a year I had to reseal the tent due to minor leaks. Once I put some waterproofing on the fly I was golden but it did lead to additional buildup of moisture under the fly that would drip into the tent. I also had an issue with the poles. The tent blew over in a mild winds and bent both poles. I have not been able to find replacements and the fly and tent touch in a few areas that create a path for moisture. Other than those 2 issues the tent is great. The floor has not had any leaks even with waking up in heavy rains on what seems to feel like a water bed. The dual doors work out great for entry and exit. The tent is light, vents well, and easy to clean and maintain.

set this up in 3 minutes, well 3:04. comes with the footprint. good ventilation with opposing doors and roof vents at front and back for total cross circulation. plenty of room. the vestibule space is big enough for a 4000cc pack. rain fly is easy to attach with clips to either the footprint or the tent, and has additional velcro clips inside to attach to the 2 tent poles. havent had it in a downpour yet, but seems very well constructed. definetly worth the price on SAC. also has a loft and 2 internal pockets for whatever you want. the only downside is their is no owners manual and is not sold on the BA website. they say you can contact the seller for that, but the setup is pretty straight forward, so I will do without it.

This is a great tent! SO SO EASY TO SET UP and take down. people were in shock how fast I got it set up. It has double doors so you don't' have to crawl over each other and each door has it's own vestibule so you can store your stuff on your side. comes with a foot print which is awesome. I would recommend using the foot print. I have a women's long thermarest and it fits great in, with room to spare. I got this tent so if I went somewhere where it was super warm I wouldn't feel like I am in a zoo with a all mesh tent with out a rain fly on. Ventilates well. The rain fly has a plastic window on it, so when the sun comes up a little bit of light pokes through at the top. Overall great tent for the price. I would recommend this to people.

Works For Me

Bought one in March 2007. I've spent a total of 10 nights in it. My first thunderstorm wasn't a good experience, but Big Agnes replaced the rain fly (good experience with Customer Service). I've been in rain since with no problems. It's well ventilated, roomy for larger folks. I'm 6'3" and the length is fine. I bring my pack in and have plenty of room with my 25"X78" Thermarest. On two occasions I've had a hiking partner inside with no problems. You just need to buy a couple of extra stakes for the ends of the rain fly.

Nice tent for the price

Tried it out yesterday . Took a minute to figure out where the poles went, but finally got it together. The rainfly clips to each corner, which seems like a pretty solid connection and shouldn't come unclipped. The tent has a door on the front and back side is a good idea too. I think overall, this tent will make a good 3-season tent
