Big Agnes Air Core Pillow - 2007
The Big Agnes Air Core Pillow is far more comfortable than sleeping on your backpack or jacket. Easy to carry and use, the Air Core is inflatable and uses the same I-beam construction as Big Agnes' Air Core sleeping pads. You can use the pillow solo or it fits right into the pillow pocket of Big Agnes' semi-rectangular sleeping pads. The pillow comes with a mesh stuff sack.
Bottom Line: Increase your sleeping comfort up to 300% with the Air Core Pillow.

Too thin

The pillow is the same thickness as the pad, like other have said let some air out fold in half and put in a stuff sack. It's light weight and takes up very little room. I like it better then my thermarest pillow.

The BA air core pillow is a dud. Granted the construction is top notch, but the size and outer material make for a bad pillow. I have a green $5 REI pillow that works much better although it is heavier. The air core pillow footprint is too large to fit into your sleeping bag hood. The thickness of the pillow is a bit lacking, so it would be better to under inflate and fold it in half inside a stuff sack. The slick fabric simply slides out from under my sleeping bag when it is resting on my big agnes sleeping pad. It actually makes a much better seat than a pillow!

This pillow is for rectangular style Big Agnes sleeping bags with a pillow packet. I put them in my kid's Big Agnes Encampment sleeping bag, and the pillows work great. They don't fit my Big Agnes mummy style bag very well, even though there is a pillow packet in that one. This pillow is great for one type of sleeping bag, but is not for any other.
Good pillow

I used to just use a stuff sack filled with whatever extra clothes I had, but this is much more confortable. It packs up very compact and light. I fold up a fleece jacket on top of it to get a little more height and warmth.
Big Agnes Air Core Pillow: good camping pillow

The Big Agnes Air Core Pillow is good for camping. It's not as comfortable as the pillow I use at home, but my tent isn't as big as my house, either. I don't let my kids bring their pillows from home when we camp because they aren't vigilant at keeping them out of the dirt. These pillows are easily dusted off if they get kicked around the campsite. They fit well in the Big Agnes Gunn Creek and Big Agnes Dream Island sleeping bag pillow slots. They're light. They pack down small enough to tuck into the sleeping bag stuff sacks. One of my daughters didn't like the pillow except as a base underneath the regular pillow she snuck out from her bed. Two of my daughters, my husband and I thought it was reasonably comfortable for a camping experience. My son says it's very comfortable if you let a little of the air out.
