Atomic Snoop Daddy Ski

The Atomic website says wood. As I understand it, the Snoop was totally revamped from prior years, moving from the Densolite w/ Beta Cap to a more traditional sandwich construction w/ slanted side walls.

09's different ski entirely- much heavier, don't chatter as much- very similar to sugar daddy's. love my older snoops- light weight for carying inot backcountry, they just aren't gr8t in hard snow- the older snoops are a ski for everything else but hardpack.

Mantra. Mantra. Mantra. Go with what is the best. I bought the Mantra's this year and have loved every minute with them. They are extraordinary in the groomers, work in the bumps and, of course, in the powder. Also, you might notice, their sale price is better. There is a reason these ski's have won so many awards.I bought the 184 and they handle bumps and glades...and bumps in the glades if you are an east coast skier. I am 6'3" 210. You'll be happy with either.

I personally loved the Snoop Daddy- I was a ski Instructor in Beaver Creek, Colorado for the winter, and as a bunch of my buddies from college worked at a ski shop at the base, I could jump on any skis I wanted for free, any day. I'm 5'11 190, and I enjoyed the Snoop Daddies because they were a great all mountain ski, but also wide enough that they were great out of bounds. I felt very comfortable landing switch on them as well. I'm waiting for next years Daddies and buying them

The Mantra is a much stiffer ski - they are two entirely different skis. The Mantra powered through crud while the Snoop had a tendency to float (with a bit of chatter) in similar snow. In comparison to the Mantra, the Snoop will have a bit less bite when carving, especially in the rear due to the twin tip. The Snoop is a very light ski, that does feel nimble - while the Mantra is a bit heftier that will give you more stability at speed and in crud.

It skis groomers very well and holds a great edge on ice, it is fat enough to ski some powder and trees. and is a stable fun ski, the only down fall IMO is that it is not a twintip, just a slight raised tail ski that skis like a traditional ski. The pimp by atomic is a similer ski but fatter and is a twin, if you can get past the name.

That size will work just fine if you ski aggressively.

I am 46 years old and ski off-piste most off the time, but i live in the tahoe area so i ski line sir frances bacons which i love for every thing. I switched to soft skis a few years ago and found them a lot more foregiving on older legs. I can ski fast, launch off any thing,bottomless powder,trees and ski the park with no pain at the end of the day. So maybe you sould look at getting some wider, softer skis. Bacons would be to wide for the east coast but maybe gotama,s or line prophet 100,s or VCT,s in a 175cm. If you want more freestyle type skis look at line blends or move up to salomon guns they are a fun foregiving fat soft ski. all these skis are fun on groomers but will excel off-piste
