Arc'teryx Beta AR Pant - Men's - 2007
Whether you take a tram to the top or earn your turns with a long hike, the Arc'teryx Beta AR Pant offers maximum versatility for all vertical pursuits. Full side zips stop just short of the waist as to not interfere with a harness or backpack and their lengthy-opening lets heat escape during long slogs. Two weights of Gore-Tex XCR are used for enhanced breathability and abrasion resistance. Your upward and downward mobility are elevated by an articulated cut and gusseted crotch to make the Beta AR go where you want to go. These pants are detailed with Arc'teryx's WaterTight zippers to ensure the best performance in or out of bounds. *Available for US shipment only.
Bottom Line: Designed with maximum versatility for adventurers who ride first-chair one day and boot it up the next.

I've warm these in snow (skiing), rain (trekking), ice (climbing) and they are impenetrable. They're great and lightweight bomber pants.
Great Pants

Light but tough outer shell pants with a perfect cut. Never had pants with such unrestricted movement and at the same time without being bulky. If there is something to criticize, it's the small pocket. If you put something like a camera in it, the position inside the pocket is unprotected on the top of your thigh (pocket is too small) - seen this better solved with other brands. But this is really a minor thing. I think there is no better Gore Tex XCR Pant in this category on the market right now.
What I would call perfect hardshell pants

These pants are as advertised. They perform very well in wet icy situations (i.e. ice climbing). [They also worked well in snowy conditions, but you should wear some gaiters despite the snow skirts.] I have successfully used these pants to hike and climb a couple of 14'ers here the Colorado Rockies. For insulation layer for these pants, I suggest Arcteryx Tau pants.
Perfectos Fit

I haven't worn these much, but they kept me dry in rain and a snowstorm. The fit is immaculate. I'm 150lb, 5ft 10in, and they're just tailored. The waist is oddly a bit tight, but otherwise I wouldn't change a thing. I could do with more pockets, but the one is enough. At any rate then pick these up. One note: they do now come with powder cuffs. They are the perfect hardshell pants.

I have taken these pants on hikes to the Oregon coast, muggy rain forests and up several mountains. The full length waterproof zippers are a real help in keeping out the water when pouring rain or allow ventilation when open. The 3/4 length zippers sit comfortably out of the way of a harness or backpack. I am extremely happy with the quality and durability of all my Arcteryx gear.
