Arc'teryx Minuteman Bib - Men's

The Arc'teryx Men's Minuteman Bib is a high-tech piece of outerwear for those spend their winters giving in to the irresistible pull of gravity. For riding powder-choked mountains like Alta, Jackson, and Whistler, B.C., forget traditional ski pants—there's no substitute for a high-performance bib. Engineered with breathable, waterproof Gore-Tex XCR fabric, the Minuteman Bib features internal powder cuffs, quick-adjust suspenders, and articulated knees and seat. Added touches include a drop seat design, adjustable waist belt, and cuff shock cords. Every seam is taped with 13mm Gore seam tape, and every pocket is watertight. *Available for US shipment only.

Bottom Line: Good luck finding a better-made technical bib than the Arc'teryx Minuteman Bib.

Resort Rippers

By:

I love these for skiing in resort - as a heavy sweater the half zip is not enough on a long tour, but is perfect in resort. I also really like that they are slightly heavier and a little warmer than some of the other Arcteryx bib options. And, as with all Arcteryx products, you will stay dry and warm through even the deepest, wettest day. If you ski powder, you have to go with a bib and you will be stoked with this choice. I have had a tiny bit of shredding on the edge guards, but that is after 4 seasons - not a major issue.

Well designed, unstoppable bibs

By:
August 18, 2007

Those low riding, "bro" pants might be fine for warmer weather in the park, but if you plan on venturing to the cold, steep and deep, a bib is always the way to go. I went up to Whistler with some friends this past season for a week. We were blessed with a foot of fresh every morning and wonderfully cold temperatures throughout, especially above treeline. Everyone wearing standard snow pants were complaining continuously whenever they'd have to sit down to buckle up their bindings as the frigid wind blown snow would deposit on their unprotected lower back. I couldn't have been more comfortable. Having logged over 30 days in these pants this season, I can say that the quality of materials and construction are truly top notch. These look almost as new as the day I bought them. The built in gaiters are solid and will hold on to any boot all day, every day. The side zip vents can open wide for exceptional ventilation. The upper bib pockets work great for a credit card, ID, cash, chapstick, and other small essentials. The thigh pockets work fine for an energy bar or two. I wouldn't put much weight in them as they are close to the knees, but they work fine for the bulky light stuff. The suspenders are well designed and never slid off my shoulders accidentally. the back of the bib has an elastic cord in the fabric to keep it close to your body whether you are wearing additional layers or not. I feel that the height of this bib was a perfect compromise between standard pants and full length bibs. I never once felt wind or snow get in the bib during some incredibly deep days and some big falls. If you're looking for a durable, high quality pant that will last for years and years of heavy use, and you're planning on venturing into the cold, windy, snow filled climates, then these are the bibs for you.

We know A rocks

Gonna sound foolish to some, but this ski pant makes my arse look really good. Ny girlfriend says I look "elegant" in them. I'm 6'2" 180 lb, 43 yr. old white guy, with a flat butt - at the office: "Hey, B! Did u forget ur butt today?" Hey, I own too many Arc products to admit to owning - a lot of jackets, so I already have a compulsion for these AT magic workers. So this is my first pair of pants. The bomb. Integrity and beauty. Excellence in fit and finish. The best design with the best materials. They get the proportions dead on if you have a longer, lean type body. They are understated, with clean, crisp lines. I feel good in them. Do I have to explain the breathable shelter that is Gore-Tex XCR? It's exactly what I expected. Exactly. Good website.

Great pants with a big flaw

By:
August 7, 2007

As other have said, the pants are great. Everything I could want. Quality is top notch. They would have been perfect except for one significant design flaw. The keprotec instep edge-guards (supposedly using kevlar) are very weak. After about 40 days of use last season, the patches are torn to shreds. I find it very disappointing that such expensive pants will only last a season. My columbia pants of 4 seasons is holding up better. The Arc'Teryx warranty dept. has been unhelpful as well.

Better than any other pant / bib

By:
March 8, 2007

I compared this bib to a Burton Cargo pant, a Burton AK 3L Pant and an Arc'teryx Theta SK pant. This Minuteman Bib is awesome. Nothing comes close. Toughest materials, best workmanship ever, nice color. I'm always impressed by new Arc'teryx gear. This bib together with the Sidewinder SV is unbelievable. Greets from Germany

ARC’TERYX is not worth the money

By:
January 5, 2007

These pants are great and are everything you would expect from a 3-layer Gore-tex pant; however, they do not have full side zippers or ever zippers around the boots. Thankfully, you can still zip the sides down to use the bathroom. ARC’TERYX makes good stuff but the Mountain Hardwear Tenacity pant is a better buy, and I would never buy the Minuteman bib again. Despite the negatives, I used them in some extreme weather and they did their job.

Best Pants Yet

By:
December 18, 2006

I've gone through 3-4 pairs of snowboarding pants over the years, trying different materials and manufacturers (Gore, non Gore, etc.). All with the same result -- cold and wet. These pants rock -- totally dry even after a whole day on the mountain (light snow fall). Highly recommended!

Excellent

By:
September 12, 2006

With this bib you will be on the right side when it comes to harsh, cold and wet to very wet weather! The fit is excellent just as it's fantastically well made! That's Arc'teryx as usual! I use it mainly for telemarking and enjoy its material and cut, because it's first class! You won't find a thing that you don't like about these pants!

Add these to your Clothing Quiver!

By:
September 1, 2006

I own a bunch of Arc’teryx. The Minutemans make it through the absolute worst weather the mountain can throw down keeping you dry. Wear like iron. The Minuteman fit is roomier in the butt and legs than the Theta SK's. This site supplies me with the medium-long lengths which is an extra 1 1/2 to 2 inches so they don't ride high on your boot cuff while yur rippin pow. Nice and dry. Worth every penny and will last years until you get sick of the color and then buy another!

Arc'teryx Kills It!!

By:
July 22, 2006

What can you say about Arc'teryx except they kill it? Super light, super comfortable, and they keep you bone dry. These may seem pricey, but they will last a lifetime.

You won't regret it

By:
December 13, 2005

I was a bit skeptical when paying so much for one piece of outerwear, but my purchase was worth every penny. I ski 120 days or more per year, and I have had a pair for two seasons going on three. I could not be happier with them. On powder days I never get wet, and they have held up during some pretty rough conditions. I hope they still make ’em when I need another pair. Five stars is an underrating should be a seven.

Minuteman Bibs

By:
December 5, 2005

These bibs are surprising in their simplicity and very satisfying in their performance. The fit is comfortable but not baggy. I was not prepared for the snug fit at the waist which will accommodate a single layer of fleece, however. The material seems bulletproof at the outset, and I particularly like the clean lines afforded by the lack of flaps over the zippers.

Nice pants

By:
August 21, 2005

I think others have summed it up effectively: these are seriously great pants. I'm 6'6" tall, and the "tall" size fits well. Add a little insulation, and they will keep you warm and dry regardless of what you throw at them. The instep patches have Kevlar woven in, making them indestructible, something not too many other manufacturers are doing. I only wish I had more chances to wear them. Buy them on sale if possible, but they are worth it at twice the price.

wicked sweet trousers

By:
June 17, 2005

The minuteman bibs are wicked sweet trousers. I bought a pair in late April of this year, and wore them probably 6 times before heading back east to NH from Colorado in mid-May. I wore them in a variety of conditions, including a day of temps in the low teens with low clouds and heavy snow at A-Basin (my best day there, ever) and a day of climbing and skiing steep couloirs on Pike’s Peak under the hot, hot sun. The pants kept me warm and dry on the cold day, and ventilated perfectly on the hot day (I was wearing shorts underneath, of course). The cut is roomier than your standard type of ski pant, but I think they look slick and never had a problem with the size of the cuffs, even when tele turning, front pointing, or skinning. I got a size large/long and the bibs cover most of my torso. My one gripe, as many have said before, is that the pockets really suck on these pants. No space for much except some cash, car keys, and a snickers. Of course, part of what makes the pants a joy to wear is that they feel like they aren't there, and having stuff floating around in big pockets would ruin that. My new jacket, a Patagonia Dimension which is also totally sweet, has enough pocket space to comfortably store my climbing skins, so I find I have the storage space.

Excellent

By:
February 28, 2005

The Arcteryx minuteman bibs are excellent. I noticed everyone else on our back country trip hanging up their stuff to dry while mine just shed all moisture and never needed to be hung up. The partial waterproof side zips stop above the knee to keep good movement while allowing venting. In general the small seams and no need for zipper flaps is very nice as things tend to not get caught. My only complaint is the small pockets, but adding larger ones would make them heavier and or catch on stuff.

Blizzard on Baker sold me.

By:
February 7, 2005

I purchased the Sidewinder Jacket and was so impressed I purchased the Minuteman Bibs shortly after. Then winter totally abandoned the state of Washington. I had jinxed winter. It was 65 and sunny in Seattle and every resort was closed in the state. Finally, Mt Baker got 32" in 3 days and opened Super Bowl Sunday. It was a nonstop "blizzard". In 30 years, I've never been so dry, warm and comfortable. Your products are simply amazing. The seamless zippers and hood that turns with your head are little details that puts your products miles ahead on the competition. Setting on snow covered chairs all day, I was toasty warm. Remarkable stuff.

strange feautres

By:
January 26, 2005

Love the look, but if you're using these as ski pants, go for the Theta SK's instead for sure. Don't like the suspenders as much on these, and couldn't figure out how they expect you to cinch the gators' shock cord once you have your legs in the pants. See my review of the SK's if you want more.

This bib is excellent. Perfect height, good fit, very comfortable. The pockets are virtually useless. I don't mind, since I ski with a backpack, but that may be a consideration for you. Well worth the money!

Nice.........

By:

Mid to heavyweight fabric - feels like it will last forever! Fit is very good - on the generous side (unlike the MHW Recon bib). Pity that the pockets are a little bit small. Would have been nice if it had conventional pockets instead. The stash pocket is good for cash/coins and probably plastic as well.
