Alpina Blazer Touring Boot

If you can't bear to part with your old skis, but your old boots are falling apart, then the Alpina Blazer Touring Boot is your savior. The Blazer Touring Boot has a modern upper and lacing system mated to a 75mm sole that fits old 3-pin bindings. The cuff sits just above your ankle for enhanced support, and you can tighten or loosen the laces depending on whether you need more control of your skis or prefer a comfy fit on long flatland tours.

Bottom Line: I'll never leave you, old wooden skis! I promise!

All Tele and 3 pin bindings will conform to the 75mm width of the bill on this boot. This measurement is shared on all tele/touring boots and has been for over 100 years. ENJOY!

Long narrow boots for long narrow feet on long narrow skis

By:
August 21, 2008

I was encouraged to order these boots by a review from another bigfoot (size 15 US, 50 European). It's hard to find size 15/50 XC boots, and VERY hard to find them to fit a three pin binding. I have been hunting three years for boots to replace my old Alpina boots, which I bought used from a rental shop because they were the only boots I could find that fit. I paid about $50 twelve or thirteen years ago. Even at the size 15/50 premium price these new boots are a much better deal. The quality of construction is up a step from my old boots, and they fit my rather narrow feet just fine over thick hiking socks. I was looking for a heavier, backcountry, boot but jumped at these because they will at least keep me going until I find what I want or give up. I ordered them two days ago and they arrived today! Excellent service! I may have bought the last pair this size; I don't see 15/50 on the list today.

A low-cost entry into XC skiing

By:
August 15, 2008

These boots gave me a cheap way to get into XC skiing -I got a used pair of skis/bindings/poles for cheap on eBay and these boots. For about $110 total, I now have a rig to zip around in parks and up and down the lakeshore here in Chicago. It is always nice when manufacturers give a nod to backward compatibility (in this case the 3-pin binding) in this techie jungle of newfangled, mutually incompatible designs. By using equipment older than the cutting edge, you can get good results for a small fraction of the price of the latest designs. The boots are comfortable for my narrow, flat feet. (As always in footwear, though, your results may vary.) They keep my feet plenty warm and dry. I haven't yet run into any problems with soreness or blistering. All told, these boots are a winner.

I love my new boots, particularly since they fit my old bindings & now my skis should last me the rest of my life. Unfortunately, the boots arrived at the end of skiing season, so I haven't had the chance to wear them on the trail, but in the house they're great!

Great price, comfy, good fit

By:
February 8, 2008

I outgrew my favorite Alpina touring boots so I was hurriedly trying to find a suitable replacement. Honestly, these were the cheapest 3-pin boots I could find but they were from a brand I trusted, so I ordered them. Arrived very quickly, in time for a trip to Methow Valley. The fit was perfect and they are very comfortable. They don't slide up and down on your heel, and the toe box is generous but not too wide (I wear a women's 9B-C and I ordered a size 41). The lacing system secures the fit well. The heels were very stable on both backcountry and track skis. They didn't feel as warm as my older Alpina boots, but we were skiing in -6F conditions and although my toes felt cold for about 30-45 minutes of the day, feeling came back quickly once we were skiing hard. Great price, very comfortable fit, warm enough for skiing 5-6 hours a day in -6F conditions, good stability, and a good secure fit.

3 Pinnah, all the way.

By:
January 30, 2008

This boot worked out well yesterday the first day I used it. It was rather snug in the forefoot when I first tried it on and that will work out to my advantage. Since I like to skate with my three pin, I may add a belt/strap to the ankle for support. However, for touring this boot is the bomb.

January 11, 2008

This Alpina boot is well-made, warm, and comfortable. I am very pleased with my pair--especially since it's harder and harder to find boots that fit my ski bindings. For those who don't want to give up their 75mm three-pin bindings, these boots are a great choice.

Here in Denver we finally are having a real winter with lots of snow. What a great time to get out my old cross country skis, but, alas, my boots were too small, but I was able to get your boots that worked with my old skis and now I can ski right out my front door and it has been great! The boots fit well and are very comfortable without having to spend a lot of $$ for a whole new package. Yippee!!

Very good quality but narrow fit

By:
January 30, 2007

As a long time x-country skier, I still love my 3 hole pin bindings. There is nothing wrong with them and yet the boots for them are diappearing. These boots are of very good quality but unfortunately narrow for me. If you decide to buy them, you might want to go "up a size". Jack

Why pay for high priced boots when you can enjoy the snow and scenery in these boots at a fraction of the price. The Blazer boots fit the budget just right and come in many sizes so your whole family can join in the fun.

nice 3 pin 75mm cross country ski boots

By:
January 11, 2007

These are very solid 3 pin ski boots. At this price point they are a better option than buying a used/worn pair on Ebay that is 20 years old. The biggest struggle for me is getting the correct sizing. I've found a wide variety in the Euro sizing. I ordered a pair of 47 (men's 12 to 12.5) and a pair of 41 (women's 8 to 8.5). Both were the correct size. :-) So in summary, great boots, very comfortable, decent price point, sizing 47 = ~12 to 12.5 (mens), 41 = ~8 to 8.5 (women's)

Boots too narrow

By:
January 2, 2007

I applaud Alpina for selling 3-pin boots. There are many used 3-pin skis out there, but few good used boots. However, these Blazer boots were too narrow. I have normal feet but the boots pinched, and I had to return them. The sizing chart did not work for these boots (Dec 2006). I wear a 10.5 USA so, based on their chart, I ordered a 44. When the box arrived, it was plainly labeled USA size 10, and they were too small. I returned for a size 45, which was labeled a size 10.5 on the box. When the manufacturer discloses the USA size, you should let us know before we purchase! The size 45 boots were still too narrow, so I returned those too.

Alpina Blazer

By:
November 29, 2006

This Alpina boot is for light touring. The heel counter is soft. The ankle support and insulation are lightweight. Most other boots that are available for 3-pin bindings seem to be for backcountry use (heavier weight construction) and over $100.

3-pin cross country boots

By:
March 28, 2006

I bought size 15 (50 European) and they just fit, allowing for a liner and thick sock. Be advised, however, these boots are narrow, so if you have a wide foot they might not work for you. At each step and in every way, I got good service from the staff here.

March 21, 2006

I have been able to use these boots twice now. They are very light (compared to downhill boots) and comfortable. My only complaint is that there isn't much grip on them, but I don't think they are intended for backcountry use, just touring. They lace up quickly and seem to be able to withstand a lot of use. They were a great buy for a beginner like me.

Murphy's law

By:
January 13, 2006

I had purchased some wooden Norwegian cross country skis at a yard sale thinking that if nothing else, decorations for the porch. I love snow but hate running, and I thought that the skis would get me to try the sport. I didn't think I could ever find a boot, and the cost of replacing the binding and purchasing new state-of-the-art boots and bindings was way too much for me. Who wants to invest so much in something that their not even sure that they like. I was given a cost effective alternative. Cheers.

It took me a while to find the "three pin" style boot, particularly in her size. This site had it and it was easy to order. Delivery was quick and my wife was happy to have a new pair of boots for her cross country skis during our visit up North.
