AlpineAire Strawberry Honey Granola with Milk

AlpineAire's Strawberry Honey Granola with Milk mix gives you the boost you need in the morning. If you own a cookstove or even just a pot and some matches, these freeze dried and dehydrated meals are the way to go. They're lightweight, compact, and super easy to prepare. The meals are packaged in resealable foil pouches. Most weigh between 5 and 7 ounces and offer 2 servings. To prepare a meal, just add a couple cups of hot water right to the pouch. A few minutes later you're ready to chow.

Bottom Line: Great for breakfast or a snack.

Mixed Review

I have more of a sweet tooth than my wife and I'm not a regular granola eater. I guess I expected this to be more like a sweetened oatmeal with the strawberries and honey but while the freeze-dried strawberries were visible first opening the package, they seemed to disintegrate when you add the water and stir. I didn't like the dryness of this compared to oatmeal and it wasn't sweet enough for me. Now, that being said, my wife loved it! We took two packages of this and we both split one the first morning. The second morning I opted for cereal bars(too sweet for my wife) and even beef jerky while she ate the entire second package. So I give the 3-star, adequate for the job rating. Great for her, and only if I had nothing else.

Delicious!

Excellent breakfast choice, the granola is both delicious and nutritious! Keeps one full and happy for a good part of the day. I don't even like granola, but i guess all tastes better out in the wilderness :).

Tastes healthy.... Not the really bad tasting, but much better for you than some of the other brands of dehydrated food. Not bad stuff. Good for those who actually care about what they eat.

Eat Poison Ivy Instead

The other reviewers must work for AlpineAire, because it was horrid at best. How do you screw up granola? You are better off taking granola and dried milk and making it yourself. It tasted like cardboard. There were six of us on the trip and we all hated it. A couple guys came up with an edible recipe - 1. Add warm water, 2. cut top off rotten banana, 3. squeeze rotten banana into bag, 4. stir, 5. clamp nose, 6. gargle boiling water (to destroy taste buds), 7. pray and choke down.

I tried it warm and it was nice in the cold morning. As far as taste, cold is better in my opinion. Regardless of how you "cook" it, it is worth taking on your next adventure.

Pretty Yummy

This isn't bad considering the dry milk. I liked it much better warm than cold and it does take the full 15 minutes as suggested on the bag. My only suggestion is that they make the bag burnable so you don't have to pack out the trash.

This meal is a power house breakfast. Just what I needed to start off on a busy day to keep me going without feeling hungry or tired. And it was delicious!
