Worth the sale

This jacket is a great value if you're able to catch it while it's on sale.
Stoic gear always looks nice, and has a flattering cut, though like in previous reviews, the arm pits are sewn a little tight. Be sure to size up! They will fit small, but be long in the sleeves.
Velcro cuffs seem to be pointless. I will probably end up cutting them off since they don't stick at all.
FROM THE PICTURES ON THE WEBSITE, YOU SHOULD BE FULLY AWARE THAT THIS JACKET DOES NOT HAVE POCKETS.
Normal pocket placements on rain jackets is useless when you're backpacking, or ski touring with a pack. The waistbelt goes directly over where pockets normally go, making them inaccessible.
The other option would be to have pockets at your rib cage, which would be quite uncomfortable to keep your hands in. So I think Stoic made the right choice and took them out all together. (Waist belts all seem to have little stash pockets anyways)
All that aside, we were able to get a good impression of the jacket the other day while being caught out in a rain storm. The jacket did great. The outer fabric did get wet after some time, but water did not pass through all layers of the jacket keeping us dry. It also dried up very quickly once the rain stopped.
While the jacket is very functional, it would be great if it wasn't designed to fit perfectly on a Barbie doll.
My girlfriend is 5'11, 140lbs and large works best

I spend just 5 minutes in heavy rain and the water got inside of the back of my neck and the front of chest. It doesnt have front pockets and the rubber flap with velcro does not work :(
Flattering, but tight at armpits

I love that this rain jacket is flattering (comes in a bit at the waist), compared to the Marmot Precip jacket (the main reason I chose it over the Precip), but it is just a little too tight around the armpit area. It's just ever so slightly heavier weight than the Marmot Precip, which is nice for layering/wind protection while still being packable. The jacket seems well made and has a nice hood.
I found it to be true to size, but you should order up if you want to do a fair amount of layering underneath. As another reviewer noted, I also really wish it had hand pockets!
Runs small & no pockets

i'm usually a xs petite but this jacket (I tried in xs) was snug on the waist. the zippers under the arms were awkwardly uncomfortable. the sleeves were a tad too long for a petite so it'll probably be perfect for non-petites. lastly, there are no pockets . Love the color-way and how light it was. had to return.

I bought this jacket cause I was taking a trip to New Orleans and it was suppose to dump the entire time. Just as promised, it arrived the day before I left. I wore it on a 2 hours walking tour of the city while it just poured. I was worried I was soaking through, because it looked like it from the outside, but insider I never got wet. It is really lightweight and rolls up pretty small. I am a medium but I bought a large and the shoulders are still a little tight. I got used to it pretty fast, but I don't think my shoulders would have fit in a medium. And in the large I can fit a light jacket underneath for extra warmth. The only thing is I wish is that it had more pockets, but I guess that would just be more places to leak.
runs small, fits strangely

I had nearly worn out my Marmot Strato, so I decided to give the Vaporshell a shot when it dropped to <$50 during the holiday sale. Although it is functional- no moisture made it through to the inside- I was disappointed. The jacket runs small overall, is cut very slim through the torso, and feels oddly binding when fully zipped. Plus, I thought I could live without hand pockets...but I can't. :(
useful pocketless shell - slim fit

Unlike the reviewer under me, no one except for me compliments my rain shell. Got it in Light Jade/Dark Jade. I like the colors and the contrast zip color. Good traction on the zip pull (silicone carpet?), not two way zip. The shell is nice & fitted, I can put it over an ordinary sweatshirty type hoody. Not sure if it will fit over a giant puffy, but I havent tried. Will fit over the smaller down insulation. I like the slim cut, it is flattering and sleek. It is also a good length for me, but I am like 5 feet so I don't know about the taller girls. I did get an XS. The material doesn't stretch. There are armpit zips which open to holes (not a mesh), and a chest pocket, but no hand pockets. As the outer-most garment (always, who would wear their rain shield under anything else?) I want somewhere to put my hands. Sure, the pockets might fill with water, but I don't know what to do with my many hands otherwise. Has a wrist velcro thing to keep it tight against water. I wore this on a drizzly day, and it kept me dry. No complaints there. I like the hood, otherwise rain would go into the neck area defeatingthe purpose of the shell. Hood section has a visor like area so water doesn't get on your face. Sleeves are a bit long (I have short arms) so I rolled it up and exposed the white inside, which got dirty. I put it in the washing machine but the dirt did not wash away from the inside material.
I wouldn't want to wear this shell by itself, against my skin. Feels like plastic impregnated fabric. But over clothes, it feels fine. Overall, I am happy with this shell esp b/c I got it on sale and will not be buying other shells.
Love it!

This jacket fits like a glove, is super lightweight, rainproof, gorgeous color combinations (I have the brown/blue), and I get compliments on it every time I wear it. I love this jacket.

Bought the jacket, tried it on, returned it for a larger size, that one was too small, just not designed to fit across the shoulders. too bad because the sleeves were long enough, a tough thing to find for me as I have long arms.
Not enough room for shoulders!

I liked the jacket; however, there was an issue with the shoulders/ arm pit area. The rest of the jacket seemed to fit me just fine, but the shoulders were too small! It was like the arm pit was cut too high up, so my arms did not have enough room. This was unfortunate because I really like the brown/turquoise combo, and I wish the rest of it worked for me! Bummer! Sending it back!

Bought the jacket for my wife and it looks and works great. Only complaint is the rubber flap with velcro on it does not want to stay together.
very happy.

Overall, I was just looking for a jacket that would keep the worst of seattle monsoons off of me. I didn't want to shell out 100+ for a jacket, and also didn't want something bulky and cumbersome. This jacket was perfect. That 25 minute walk to work and campus through pouring rain and this keeps me protected. It's loose enough I can wear it over any jacket and thin enough that I can easily store it in my bag or purse if not needed. Overall, I am completely happy with the purchase.

I love the idea of this jacket...the breathability and the lightness. I ordered a large and it was too tight so I sold it to my friend and ordered the XL. To my dismay it was still too tight in the shoulders and the sleeves were 4 inches too long. So sad. This is for a tall slender body. Would like to have had side/front pockets too.

I would like to say this is the perfect stuff for the sudden-rainy weather here. While walking on the road with shiny sunlight, there will be sudden rain pouring down... with this one, I will never worry about that.
Not too shabby at all!

I've been looking and looking (for at least 5 months) for a quality, affordable rain shell and...tada - here it is! I christened it hiking through the Wind River Range in western Wyoming and it fared quite well during a long-winded afternoon storm. The jacket is breathable, light weight, packs easy, has an awesome adjustable hood (which did a great job keeping rain off my glasses), and is a frickin' sweet color - highlighter blue! Only weird thing is the velcro on the sleeves - it's part rubber so it comes undone often. However, the sleeves are a little long so rolling them up keeps the velcro secure and gets the extra length out of my way. I'm 5'4 1/2"ish, 117 lbs., and the medium fits great - covers my tush with room to layer underneath and still feel flexible. And you can't beat the price!
girlfriend loves it

I bought one of these for my girlfriend and she loves it. Hood is over sized and fits really well. You arent going to find a jacket this waterproof, breathable, lightweight and packable for the price. Could use some hand pockets but its not too big of a deal
