The highly-breathable, four-way stretch Stoic Men’s Tour Pant SE puts an end to sweltering skin tracks and restricted motion. Scholler’s Dryskin softshell fabric stands up to storms while the 3-D ergonomic fit ensures an effortless, un-inhibited range movement and the Keprotec cuff reinforcements protect the Tour Pant SE from ski edges, crampons, and nasty rocks. Extremely breathable and ridiculously comfortable, the Tour Pant wants to be your new touring buddy.
Bottom Line: For bluebird tours and socked-in summits.
THese are not wind proof. A small amount of air passes through the pants. Plus its not seam sealed. so it is not water proof either. they have a tight weave and are DWR coated so water beads off but will eventually seep through (usually the seams first). A hardshell pant with a waterproof laminate will do that- however if its not raining these pants are perfect. They will also breath better than a hardshell as air from the body passes through the fabric and outside (so you do not have the condensation on the inside that builds up in hardshell during high aerobic activities) hence the term Highly breatheable
I had to add a comment regarding the Tour pants. They are more flexible than the Overhang although both are extremely comfortable and warm. Additionally, the shell is quite durable even beyond the reinforced ankles. When sitting down I accidentally caught the back thigh area of these pants with a single crampon point and watched it pull. Thankfully the pants didn't even show a sign of tear. It was one of those moments where you just sort of cringe and try to prevent the bad situation from getting any worse. The crampon was caught pretty hard as i was getting "untangled." The pants are also plenty water proof for me, I slide down almost 7,000 feet of wet summer snow with no issue. Very pleased. Unfortunately, I can't compare these to any other softshell pants nor on their weight. I've only used the Stoic Overhang and Stoic Tour.
Is it really necessary to charge $200 for these pants??? They look great. Would love to buy them, but come on, give me a price I have a chance at justifying.

Definitely worth the extra money over the regular Tour pants (assuming both are the SAC sale price). The Schoeller fabric breathes infinitely better than the softshell fabric on the regular Tour pants and is much less bulky as well. The fleece backing is much thinner, making these pants much more versatile and able to be used well into the spring.
Fit: Same kind of awkward sizing as the regular Tour pants. I'm a size 32 in every other brand out there, yet I don't fit into the medium in these pants (or the regular Tour), so I am stuck with an ever so slightly too big pant that I am forced to wear a belt with because the waist doesn't match the seat/crotch/thigh areas.
That being said, I am more than happy with these pants and am willing to put up with the odd sizing for the price that I got these pants for.
These pants are not really a summer pant. They are light insulation to them with a wind resistant face fabric. Look at the overhang pant for warmer temps (more of a all season lightweight softshell pant)
I haven't used the Columbia pants before but these are well worth the price on steepandcheap.com. The pants are going for $64 pretty frequently right now. They're really stretchy, durable, softshell pants, with a very light fleece lining.
The difference between the Tour and the Tour SE is the fabric, these are made from Dryskin, a brand name softshell fabric made by the swiss textile company Schoeller. It has a great reputation, but as I haven't used it, I can't personally attest to its performance.
