Spring, summer, or fall, Stoic’s Templum 3 Tent is an on-the-go sanctuary that stands up to gale-force winds, torrential downpour, and late-season snow –all without weighing down your pack.
The Templum 3 Tent’s lightweight aluminum poles create a solid, element-shunning structure
The seam-sealed, waterproof fly fends off Nature’s soggy side
Store your headlamp and other small items in the Templum’s included gear loft
Thank the stars for the ventilating mesh sidewalls and canopy when the weather clears
An included footprint ensures years of pitch-anywhere durability
The Templum Tent’s two-door design makes for stealthy Nature’s-call missions in the middle of the night
The Stoic Templum 3 Tent is the first backpacking tent I've camped in. Previously I've owned several department store tents better suited for car camping. Wow, what a difference! Nice features at a decent price. We used the Templum 3 on our recent backpacking trip into the 20 Lakes Basin of the Hoover Wilderness near Yosemite. It slept me, my wife, our 11 year old son, and our two small dogs comfortably.
* The stuff sack has a nice grip area to help pull the sack off the tent. The sack also has compression straps.
* The aluminum poles are way lighter than the fiberglass poles I was used to. In addition, the sections of pole connect to each other without the need for an outside metal connector like on fiberglass poles. This makes it much easier to slide the poles through the tent sleeves when setting it up.
* Setup is easy with only 2 poles to slide in. Reinforced pocket on one end of the tent sleeve for the pole to go into, grommet on the other end to snap-in the other side of the pole.
* Plenty of mesh, so the tent makes a nice sanctuary from mosquitoes if you want to use it during the day without the fly. Bug free, but you still have a great view of the outside. Also, with the extra ventilation, the inside of the tent felt very dry in the morning.
* Gear loft above, and mesh pockets near your head on the floor are super handy for storing small items like sunglasses, camera, and flashlights.
* 2 door entry is very convenient with 3 people in the tent.
* Fly goes on the tent easy, attaching with Velcro strips along the poles, and quick snap-in plastic clasps at the end of the poles. Zippered vestibules cover both doors. Close them to keep warm and keep additional gear dry outside the tent. Open them to let some air in while making some shade in the tent.
Tips: The included instructions are a little vague. Setting up the tent in the backyard before our backpacking trip was helpful, as I had the aid of the photos on Backcountry.com. Once you realize how it all goes together though, it's a snap. Also, as others have mentioned, roll the footprint, tent, and fly together, and it's much easier to get it all back in the stuff sack.
Bottom Line: Great tent for the money. Includes the footprint, nice attention to detail, easy to setup, light enough for backpacking.
Well, I would say this is a good tent at it's price. It's got a lot of mesh, but let me tell you, if it's below 40 degrees at night, you don't want this tent! BRRRRRRRRRR.... I also don't like that you have to push the poles through seams, weird. The gear loft is nice, but not nice enough to make me use this tent again backpacking. I'm setting it up in the basement for my daughter to play in.

Just got my tent in and set it up before a two night trip out in the hills. Only possibly issue I have is on the head and foot of the tent the rain fly seems to rest on the wall of the tent. I was just curious if this will cause problems because there doesn't seem to be any lines to pull it away from the side.
Wasn't set up backwards. And it did affect the tent a little from the condensation. There are loops in the center at the bottom of both the head and foot portions of the rain fly that look like guy lines get tied to but there are no lines there for use. Not sure if they didn't get put on in factory or what
That sounds like bad news, if it is resting on the poles, not a big deal. But on the walls of the tent, that could make for a wet experience. The guy ropes do not help? It is not backwards is it? Something I tend to do trying to set up quickly
This tent is easy to set up even without pictures on the instructions. The poles are great and comes with a footprint. But I have to agree with the zipper review that the zippers aren't all that great. I'm actually returning the tent because the floor seems thin to me and my wife and were afraid of tearing it with our gear. But for this price I still think it's a great deal. Also on a side note it doesn't come with enough stakes to tie down the rain fly with. I will upload some pictures i took after setting it up.
Sets up easy rain fly works well footprint is great! No leaks so far! Great tent for the price and the initial impression is awesome Ill see how it lasts
This tent arrived quickly via UPS, It was rolled up so perfectly in its duffel bag I almost did not want to to take it out. But I did. I set it up in my backyard for a test run...It was very easy to set up for me, but my daughters could not bend the pole enough to get the end in the holder thing at the bottom of the tent. After the three of us got inside we realized we would not like each other much if we had to sleep so close together..I rolled it up as best I could using the "sushi" rolling method, I could not get everything back in the bag with out a ton of effort....I think this is a great tent for two people. Two doors, two vestibules, its an awesome deal for all that is included...
I got mine, found it best ti roll up the tent with the items (tarp cover in the center of of tent) poles in the own bad after the tent, it works, Was a little tough on th pole (ends as well) found out to grap the holder from behind the poles then it fits> Pulling on the holder was not working.
Purchased this tent for a three night trip through Pintler Wilderness in Montana. Held up well through a rainstorm, easy to set up.Repacks easily as long as you roll the footprint, tent and fly all together. Was only two of us, but could have slept three but it would be tight. Two knocks would be there is not enough stakes for the footprint, and the footprint is not big enough to extent into the vestibule area which would be nice to keep your gear clean and dry. Overall, would recommend this tent to anyone.
The tent is east to setup, calss for two people to set it up, however set it up by myself. Light weight, compact. Will wright another review after my trip to WV for some whitewater rafting. The zipper works great. So far love this tent.
Just got the Stoic Templum Tent, calls for two person setup, did it by myself, so the setup was easy. Seems to be a nice tent. Cannot wait to try it out while camping.
We purchased this tent to take with us as we tour on our motorcycles. Light weight, easy to pack, a snap to set up, and just perfect for the two of us.
This tent is the first I have ever purchased and I am thrilled with it. Super easy to set up (only 2 poles!) and easy to pack. It rained and rained the first time I used it--the fly is 100% waterproof, not one leak! I do recommend putting a tarp under the footprint though. I would definitely consider this a 2 person + gear or 2 person + dog sized tent. I can't imagine squishing in a 3rd person. Several little gear pockets and a gear hammock inside too. Highly recommended!
I bought this for a motorcycle trip, and I absolutely love it. Great tent for the price point, very intelligently designed, easy to set up and well made.
Of the 3 people that went on the trip, my tent was easily the most affordable, and definitely stood its own compared with size, ease of set-up, and quality.
Plenty of room for 2 people to lay comfortably (3 would be a bit tight)
Didn't rain, so I can't comment on waterproofing, but I used the rain-fly to avoid morning dew and it worked awesomely, no wet walls etc.
Does it come with two vestibules or one? I cant really tell from the pictures. Also, I'm not trying to say anything bad about Stoic because I have a tone of there gear (Jackets, sleeping bags, compression sacks) but is that really the best picture you have? It looks like that thing is going to fly away in a spring breeze.
@Simon and @Todd - yeah, the photos are pretty bad- pitch is bad too! Seems like the tents are really new, probably tossed the promo stuff together in a hurry.
First off - I'm a 58 yr old Grandma who's been "roughing it" in an RV for decades, so the fact that I could set this tent up the very first time in about 15 minutes, speaks volumes for the intuitive way it's constructed! Basically - it's impossible to set it up wrong.
There's ample room and it's tall enough that I didn't have to "duck-walk" to enter it. It seems VERY well-made; and yes, it all miraculously fits back in its stuff bag. I love the roof vent in the fly - that should make rainy nights a little more comfortable?
Granted - nothing is as comfy as a motorhome :-) But since THAT won't fit on my kayak, I think this tent will be just perfect!!
Took the Stoic out for the Coast walk here in Sydney Australia and it was brilliant. Not too heavy to carry, easy to erect, and easy to put away again. Deliberately got the 3 man version despite 2 people in each tent and have no regrets about it. Gear loft a real plus over other tents i have used. A real value for money buy.
I needed to update my gear. I got this tent on SAC for $99.95. So it was a great deal, but worth more than that. I took it to Tunica Falls in Mississippi with my sister who never camped before. She helped me set it up and at first she questioned the size asking if we can both fit in there, but once we settled in at night she was surprised at the room inside. We fit 2 air mattresses and a small bag no problem. Great view too, without the rain fly the whole tent is pretty much all window/screen. So it's very breezy too. Could have fit all our gear or another person but it would be tight.
This tent worked great! It is easily a 3+ person tent. It fit Me (6'1") my 60L pack behind my head, my girlfriend and her 60L pack, our two dogs (german shepherd, and cattle dog) and there two pack with some room to spare. I thinking I need another dog to fill the space.
The tent was also really easy to set up. The two of us were able to set up the tent in complete darkness and it only took us about 10-15 minutes the first time. You can't beat this tent for the price and ease of assembly. It also goes back in the bag really easily.
It isn't the lightest tent of its size but its certainly the most bang for your buck! I would recommend this tent to anyone.
I just recently came back from a weekend of camping with my family and a friend of mine. During this time, we did experience some rain. Frankly, I was worried this tent may leak as the previous year, I dealt with a leaky tent, and with no seam seal, that made the trip miserable. I had a fantastic time though! My friend and I shared the Stoic tent, and we had plenty of room for the both of us (but I do think with a third person, it would feel cramped). I kept my gear under the vestibule, and not a drop reached any of my things. My friend and I were dry inside, even through heavier showers, and we had room to sit up and move around a bit. Much better trip than last year!
Just got this tent and set it up. Not sure how a rain fly with a Velcro opening in the top is supposed to keep rain out in windy conditions. Thin construction, probably fine for car campers, but wouldn't want to be out in the outback with this tent in a real rainstorm. Unfortunately, I am returning it.
This was a easy tent to set up. I was afraid because it was backcountry 's own brand but fear not it is a great deal. The stitching is very well constructed and sealed. The poles are very lite and well constructed aluminium. I spoke with Carly on the chat option and she was very helpful and eased my mind about getting this tent.
I went camping the day after I received the tent in, Hot Springs NC .It was easy to set up and came with a footprint.I was very nervous cause it looked to thin I thought it would let in all the rain and soak all my gear. To my surprise it rained for 5 hours and "bingo" not a drop of rain any where in the tent . If your looking for a deal this is your tent. Very roomy and peace of mind about not getting wet .
I bought this tent to use as a two person for High alpine hunting trips. I am 6'2" and weigh about 200 lbs and my hunting partner is about 6'0 220. It would be very difficult to get three of either one of us in this tent but I have noticed this is the case with most 3 person tents. I have used it on one trip into the Gross Ventre wilderness in wyoming. We hiked in 8 miles and set up camp at 9500 feet. We camped on top of the ridgeline and experienced high winds and rain for most of the night. The tent held up great with no leaks. I would recommend this tent to anyone who is serious about back country adventures. Not to mention it is a great deal with the foot print and gear loft included.
I am buying the 3-person for general car camping. I already purchased the 2 person model because of the good price point and also the good reviews. It did not let me down. Great little tent, set up easily, loved the gear loft and head room. Zipper did not seem cheap and the two doors with two vestibules was also a benefit. It is not as lightweight as a backpacker model but everything else about this brand is great quality for the value.
I use it for overnight canoe trips. I'd rather lose this great little inexpensive tent down the river rather than a great little expensive tent.
Used this tent once for some car camping..it rained all night, by morning water was dripping on us from somewhere above-maybe the Velcro vent in the top of the fly? was also disappointed in the zippers which are cheap and tend to get stuck easily. This tent is super roomy and comfortable foot print is a nice addition too. But overall i would not recommend this product, as it did not keep us dry! ----product return!---
very surprised to hear this. did you have the tent and fly staked out? this tent has been tested in rain, wind, and snow. needs to be staked out for water to run off, instead of running in. Zippers are YKK #5, the best in the industry. many other tent makers use these, but many use other cheaper brands.
