Description

Stashes small and crashes the party on gnarly weather.

Outside there's a storm churning, but thanks to the storm-proof and highly-breathable Stoic Women's Stash Shell, you're headed to the hills regardless. At 13 ounces, this fully-welded jacket leaves a hardly noticeable weight inside your trekking pack, and it achieves this feather-lightness without sacrificing any of the 20k-rated weatherproof protection. Stoic even kept the small luxuries like underarm zips and a fully-adjustable hood so you can adapt to foul weather with supreme comfort.
  • 20K-rated waterproof fabric offers supreme protection from downpours, heavy snow, and precipitation so you stay dry as a bone
  • 20K-rated breathability allows the fabric to transfer sweaty moisture from inside the shell outward so you feel comfortable, not clammy
  • Fully-welded construction eliminates areas of chafing at seams, locks out the elements, and gives this shell superior durability
  • 3-D ergonomic fit allows this shell to move with you with maximum mobility
  • Fully-adjustable hood easily fits over a ski or climbing helmet so you can protect your head and face when a storm rolls in mid-session

Sizing: I'm 5'7"and usually fit small. If you approx match & looking for a slim fit, buy small. If you're planning on layering, buy medium. I did the latter, since I purchased for winter.
Result: very pleased, medium fit looked just right. Arm length is perfect; with arms outstretched, my hands are still half-way covered. The back, however, does not cover the derriere entirely; refer to the above slideshow (exactly how that shows, it only covers half). Finally, the color in person was a bolder orange-grenadine than the red-grenadine my screen had me perceive.
Rating: It held up against Vancity's freezing rain, but is not as effective against the wind; therefore not particularly a 2 in 1 jacket. Nevertheless, it locks in the warmth pretty ok & I'm extremely satisfied with its waterproofness. Finally, the hood sits partially over my face when wearing a ponytail -not long enough to prevent the rain from spraying in, & the underarm vents are not mesh lined.
I give it a 3.5/5 due to the misses I described above (back length, color, wind, hood, vents).
Besides all that - overall, I'm satisfied.

Never wore this company before, but now I am a fan. This jacket is well made. The shape is really flattering . Really keeps out the wind and you can get hot rather quickly. Great in the rain also. I give it two thumbs up.

Purchased this jacket with the intention of taking it on future trekking/backpacking trips, but already using it on my morning runs through chilly, damp NYC weather. Fit is true to size, but if you're going to wear it over a puffy down jacket, go up a size. Unless you own an ultra light down jacket.

Is the cut and fit of this similar to the women's non-insulated bombshell jacket? I currently have that in a Medium, and it is quite a roomy fit (enough for a light puffy underneath), although according to the sizing chart I should be an XS.

When the jacket arrived, the package was so small and light that I seriously doubted the quality of the product...it felt like I was holding a piece of paper! Good thing I was wrong! The material is soft on the outside and the color is better than the picture can do it justice. I've been wearing this in rainy Vancouver for everyday commuting, hiking, and even cycling and it has kept me consistenly dry (my pants and shoes were not so lucky unfortunately). The sleeves are long, but I like it that way as it keeps my hands warm. Great product for the price. I may buy a second one since I tend to destroy rain jackets. I'll be travelling to Peru in December, and I definitely plan to pack this jacket over my Goretex due to its lightness.
