  • Fit:True to size

I love these shorts! They are, hands down, my favorite for travel / outdoor / being awesome in. I notice that some of the Stoic products are being replenished -- I cast my vote for these to be on that list!

Terrible Quality Control for Stoic

Nice tough stretchy material, but the construction of the shorts is horrendous. My shorts have left outseam almost 1 inch longer than the right outseam and the right leg opening is about half an inch wider than the left leg opening. Needless to say, they look pretty ridiculous while I'm wearing them.
At least BC is paying for the return shipping for this terrible product.

    Awesome and highly recomended

This was my first stoic gear i've ever ordered, was a bit worried about the material and size. The size came exactly what i needed and i fell in love with the material and was surprised with how stretchy the material was (perfect for climbing). Fits and looks awesome.

    Awesome and highly recomended

    Awesome shorts!

I do trail running and mountain biking and these things are great for both. They're also good lookin enough to wear out on the town and the fit is incredibly comfortable. I originally bought these to wear for a Tough Mudder in PA but after wearing them a few times, I couldn't bring myself to subject them to such punishment. Although I'm sure they would do just fine, I liked them too much. lol. I'm going to buy another pair. It would be nice to see a few more colors to chose from, as of now, I'm only seeing two colors. If you're looking for a "catch all" short then this is it!

      Pretty Good Deal

Hey y'all...these are pretty nice shorts. First off, I'm 5'7" and about 150# (31 waist)...the mediums fit well albeit off the hips a bit. Comfortable through the legs. The material is soft and wears well. There are some pocket features that are cool....there's a hide-a-way pocket within the right rear pocket..great for cell phones. The outer pocket on the right leg is nice but won't carry anything too heavy due to the material of the shorts. The pocket zippers work great and have a nice finish flap.

        All in 'em.

        The best

These shorts are awesome. I originally purchased a black pair off of SAC a year or two back to give them a try and they have held up to the abuse. With summer back and commuting by bike more, I decided I needed more than one pair of my favorite shorts so I purchased two more from backcountry. The material is perfect, it's thick enough to stand up to abuse but still light, flexible, and comfortable to wear- they dont have that awkward "stiff" look or weird creases. I always hover at a 33-34 inch waist and in brands like Prana I wear Medium or Large with no rant or rhyme to it. These a large is perfect mix between comfortable and the girlfriend still likes that they're not too baggy.

          Highly Recommend

These just came in the mail a couple days ago. The fabric is lighter than was expecting it to be based on other reviews and provides nice breathability. They look good; they're nice and stretchy, and have been great for running and climbing. I have a 32 waist and they fit almost perfectly.

            Great for climbing and more

Surprisingly thick material, but still plenty breathable and great durability which makes it a little too heavy to consider for backpacking. The mesh pockets are a definite plus in my book as well as they speed up drying and breathability. The stretch makes it great for climbing, biking, hiking, pretty much anything!

              Great Shorts

These are a great pair of shorts with deep, functional pockets. They' re very durable. I also like the seven belt loops rather then the typical five or six. The only drawback is the sizing. I'm a medium in just about all brands which is what I ordered for these pair but they are bit on the large side. I'm 6' and 160 lbs. I'll just wear a belt.

I would certainly recommend the shorts to a friend.

                Nice shorts

I agree with some of the comments here...the shorts are nice and have some cool features (pockets). The sizing is a bit tricky. For reference, I'm 5'7" and about 150#, 30" waist...the smalls are wayyy too snug in the hips/legs but the mediums fit good if a bit tooo roomy in the waist. They hang low on the hips but are doable.

All in all, I'm psyched about getting them and have decided to keep the shorts.

These are my favorite pair of shorts, ever. However, I mainly wanted to write a review to comment on the sizing. I've seen other reviewers mention they have a 34 waist and the medium size of these was way too snug. I have not found that to be the case. I am a 34 waist and I ordered the medium, and they fit *perfectly*. Not uncomfortably tight, but snug enough that you don't need a belt to hold them up.

Any chance we'll be getting a restocking of additional colors anytime soon? I'd love these in black.

hey, the description says this is made of "summer-weight Polartec Powershield softshell fabric", but then the tech specs call it Everest softshell fabric. are those the same thing?

Doesn't feel like my polartec fleece but it does say summer weight with a hard abrasion resistant treatment. It has a rougher feel on the outside and it is a thinner material than any sort of fleece.

Stretches well. This is from having the Overhang pants.

I guess it could be polartec though. I didn't find any tag, however.
