I'm really impressed with these pants. Long walks in drizzle and they never wet out and dry in a 5 min drive back in the car. Water just shook off. Warm but very breathable with excellent range of motion. You don't notice them even when the conditions beg them to fail. An excellent deal.

I normally wear a 33 waist and either a 32 or 34 length (depending on the manufacturer). They only had the large so I tried that. Sadly it was just a bit too large in the waist and legs but the length was perfect. Thus they are going back. The material seemed awesome, though.

I feel like the medium will fit perfectly. Please make more of those, Stoic!

I went through a phase where I'm just looking for a good, comfortable, stretchy climbing pants that won't lint up over time, and these fit the bill perfectly! I like the higher waist too so your ass isn't hanging when you're sitting or have to put your feet super high while climbing. Stoic/Backcountry better bring these back!

I absolutely love these pants. They have a light stretch to them that makes em extremely comfy and the fabric is very durable. They are great for active pursuits or lounging around in. Im 6'1", normally a 34x34, and got a large. They fit superbly. Love the extra side zip pocket!

Awesome pants. The fit is great, slim enough to look good but not so tight that it's restricting. Material is light and waterproof - I intend on using them hiking and backpacking. Also bought the Kuhl Revolver, but I'll be returning those in favor of the Overhangs. Similar material, but the Revolver's were too baggy.

These have become my favorites. I have two pairs now. The weight of the fabric is perfect in my opinion. Mid weight, not flimsy, not too heavy. No laminate, no fleece lining contrary to the description above. Works for me for all seasons, but best for spring and fall. Nice stretch. Nice pockets. My jeans size is 33x30. So I ordered size M and had them tailored a bit. They were a bit too long so I had them hemmed up to inseam 30. And I also had them tapered at the bottom so the opening was a bit narrower. For climbing, etc, I like to have a minimum of extra fabric flapping around down there catching on things and hiding my feet from view, etc. So, with these changes in place, I think I've found the perfect pants.

I rock these camping and hiking and I love them. Plenty of pockets to keep your things secure. Breathe well and can handle very light precip. Pretty cool softshell pant.

I'm not going to lie, I'm very picky when it comes to my hiking pants. So when I got these pants (color: bark, Size: medium) in the mail I wasn't sure if I was going to like them. However, after putting them through the wring this winter, I have to say that these pants are pretty bomb proof. I love the softshell material that they are made out of because it is pretty thin and strecky, yet durable at the same time. As far as water-resistance goes, these pants hold up surprisingly well in light to moderate rain (I wouldn't recommend using these as rain pants). I have seen some reviews that say you can wear these pants in the summer ( I don't because I live in Georgia), but generally I think that these are 3 season pants (Spring, Fall, and Winter).
I have to say that the overhang pants are pretty stellar and I would recommend them to anyone who is on the fence about buying them.
The only down side to these pants is the sizing. I am 5'10 145 pounds and the mediums are a little big on me, but that is nothing that a belt can't fix.
Hope this review helps!

I feel the same way about the sizing - at 6'2" 145lbs, the length of the mediums is perfect, but I need the belt for it to say up.

I bought the overhang pants for some lightweight and compact travelling pants and loved them so much I purchased 3 other colors. The pants are extremely comfortable and versatile. They don't look too sporty, so when you are travelling they are great for long days of walking around cities without looking out of place. I've used them for spring skiing and a couple fo hiking trips and they held up great. They are also great for airplanes because the side pocket doesn't bulge but allows you to keep your wallet convenient without having to sit on it! Hands down the best pants I own, I don't normally write reviews but these pants deserved my praise. Like everything Stoic makes they are awesome.

are these pants for winter or summer? spring or fall?

Due to the highly breathable material and design of these pants, they would be best for Summer, and maybe Spring, or Fall. The polyester fleece lining provides comfort on those mornings in the canyons, but they are awesome in warmer temperatures as well. These are NOT an insulated winter pant.

I have my eye on these for a CT thru hike in July. I am 6'4" 200lbs, size is between 34-36 x 34-36. Any recommendations on sizing? The xl inseam seems a little short at 32.8.

I'm 5'11" 175lbs, 33X32. The Large is a little loose but the inseam just fine.

These pants work great for me. I own three pairs and have been rotating the wear for the past three months. I use an extra large (I am 6'2" and 200 lbs) and they provide the room that any man would want. During average winter days (10 degrees to 30 degrees) I just add a pair of thermal leg wear under these and they work as snowpants for me.

I haven't had these long but I do like them, and my wife says my butt looks good in them so that is a +1. I am 5'6ish 144lbs. I am comfortable in 30-31 inch waist and 30" inseam for jeans. I ordered the small and they fit great at the waist and length is about perfect. They are a little snug on my thighs, but I think my thighs/quads are a little large for my size. I bought these to use for mountain biking in cooler temps. With a thin merino wool base layer they work very well (out for 4-6 hrs 36-48 F). They are not cut for cylcling in the leg so I need to put something around the lower leg to keep it out of my chainring. They are quite comfortable and the fabric is nicely stretchy. The pockets are well thought out and nice. Because they it a little snug on my thighs it makes it not so comfortable to have anything in the pockets, that is ok with me because I keep everything in a backpack or framepack. I purchased the Black with red (cayenne) accents. Pretty sharp looking. I have not worn them without a baselayer yet so I am not sure how comfortable they are against the skin, but i believe they whould still be comfy. They shed light mist and a little drizzle but I would recommend a shell if it is sustained. I would recommend these pants.

Aside from the giraffey leg length (which is indicated in the size chart, so I knew what to expect--getting them hemmed is no big deal), these fit great and feel great. Just got them today and wearing them at the moment. Material very stretchy and seems quite tough--looking forward to giving it some breathability and water resistance workouts in the Cascades in the coming months. Will update then.

Size note: I am 5-7/170 and with a waist of about 35 and an inseam about 30. I ordered the large at first, but the waist on that was way too big (the size chart indicates a waist size of about 33-35, but this felt like 37-38 to me) and the seat/legs too baggy, so I returned it (very easy, thanks Backcountry) and got the mediums, which fit quite well but will have to be shortened by a couple inches--a process I am well acquainted with as almost al my pants have to be shortened. Should do fine with a light layer underneath as well.

Lining is described as poly fleece, but that's misleading--it is not fluffy/nappy at all (which I prefer because I overheat easily). It's a thin, smooth, soft poly lining--works great for me, but I would not call it "fleece."

This is an update to my prelim review above--pants worked great on a 5-hour all-snow ascent in the Cascades last week. They shed snow and moisture perfectly, I never felt cold or overheated. May have gotten brushed by crampons a few times and never a mark. Knees/lower thighs seemed a little baggy by the end of the day. A very nice pant.

The material was really cool but the fit was a little inconsistent. I usually wear a 32X32 so I bought the Medium. The waist was about an inch too large but the length was pretty spot on.

The knees also had a strange fit to them.

I'm 6'3" around 200 lbs - usually wear 34x34 or 34x36 pants (34s can be just a tad too short) - which size would you recommend?

I'm 5'11'' and the Medium was the perfect length for me. I would go with the Large in your case. That being said check out the review I just wrote above your question.

i had bought previously the stoic overhang shorts and i fell in love with them when i used them for a whole season of climbing, now that;s it a bit chillier for climbing, i thought i'd try the pants and they were perfect just like the shorts, even took them on a 3 week hiking and climbing trip in the desert, performed awesome!

I purchased the Stoic's first size 34. I was immediately impressed with the way they looked, but they were too small, even with the elastic waist band. I returned them for Marmot Scree pants size 36. These pants were too big. I also noticed the Screes are more stretchy then the Overhang fabric. I returned these for Scree size 34 and they fit just right. I'm 5'11" weigh 200 lbs and usually wear size 34 loose fit jeans.
