Pleasantly surprised

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I really like this top! Bought it in jade on a whim when on sale and I'm glad I did. The XS fits me well. I'm 5'2" and 108lbs. It's fitted in a flattering way, but not tight, and I think longer ladies will find that there is enough length. The sleeves are a longer short sleeve than I'm used to, but that's not a bad thing for sun protection. I've worn this on short bike rides and a run; I plan to wear it more for hiking though.

Shape + Breathability

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I've worn SmartWool since I can remember for base layers and warm performance jackets. I'm a fan of merino wool because I can wear it for a week straight on hard treks and never smell or feel sticky; it breaths and wears well. Never tried STOIC brand... until BC's outlet sale took away my last excuse. Got the Stoic Merino 150 Short Sleeve V-Neck -- from the moment I tried it on, I've loved it! Perfectly cut shape all around: just the right stretch, body cut is more feminine, and shallow v-neck is modest and easier than the round neck on my other SmartWool baselayer. I actually hadn't taken it off before I bought 4 more! So far it is holding up well, not itchy, good colors on contrast stitching, perfect torso length for coverage. I'm 5'4" and 115 lbs, petite with broad shoulders -- I usually wear an XS. Got the XS and it is comfortably fitted/snug, which I like, but if you like a little more room, the Small would be a good option.
This will be my go-to shirt for base layers, daily wear, etc. Forget Gap and Banana Republic - this is the way to wear casual basics that you can ALSO sprint/ski/hike/travel in!

Warm and slightly Itchy

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have very sensitive skin and this shirt is ever so slightly itchy. Still comfortable and a great base layer though, the boysenberry is so vibrant!

Can't go wrong with Merino from Stoic

Love this shirt. Great fit, very soft and comfy. Can be used alone or as an under layer.

Held up well for the first few months

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

This shirt was bought to be a base layer for running and commuting on my bike. I wore it 2-3 times a week. It was comfortable and kept me warm through the winter, and worked incredibly well when I ran an ultra marathon in April (cool morning weather and temps in the 80's in the afternoon). I'd give it a higher rating, but it's now developing small holes in the front (I've had it less than a year) and seems to be itchy now when I wear it. Other merino shirts that I bought at the same time and had similar amount of wear & washing are not doing this. The blue is slightly see through as well depending on the color of your undergarments.

The sizing seems fairly true to size. I'm 5'2 with 34A and 29 waist and got a small. It was form fitting around the waist which is what I wanted for a base layer. If I was to wear this regularly on it's own, I'd probably size up. The torso was also a bit long for me; any chance for future petite sizing?

Worked Great

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I went on a three month backbacking trip and this was my primary shirt. It held up amazingly when bushwhacking through thorn bushes and the like. It got shredded but with me it got more abuse in three months than most shirts would get in years. I'm buying a couple more for my next trip!!

natural

Benefits of a natural material, sheep have a good thing goin'.
My core temperature has a difficult time regulating, either hot or cold - these thin merino wool shirts interestingly keep the heat in or let the heat out if needed.

Great all-purpose shirt

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I love these shirts. The best feature for me is the slightly longer sleeve length. It is so hard to find short-sleeved women's shirts that aren't super short. These are also soft and warm. I layer them with my other Stoic shirts or wear them solo in warm weather. Lastly, they remain stink-free after days of use.

Great value

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

5'3, 130 pounds, short torso, broad shoulders, ordered a size small (dark jade). I really like this top, especially the fact that it's a longer fitting torso (although I have a short torso, so it just might be me) and I love the longer sleeves. The cap sleeves on a lot of womens shirts chafe me, but these are great. I've only worn it climbing indoors so far, but it's held up great and doesn't smell. I also appreciate the fact that the designs on the side panels aren't typical "girly" designs.

Great performance, no style

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Love the fabric, color, and print (I have the bright blue with the orange). It was a bit stiff and itchy until it'd been worn a bunch and washed a few times. I wore it for almost two weeks straight (sleeping too) while traveling in a van around NZ. Didn't get stinky and looked great every day. I've worn it to yoga. It was a bit warm at first, but once it got nice and sweaty, it cooled down. FANTASTIC for running and hiking, rain or shine. I tend to sweat a lot and then get really chilled as soon as I stop, not so with this thing, it's seriously a miracle. Works just as well as a baselayer or a midlayer. Spilled all over it while cooking, didn't wash it for a while, and not a stain to be seen. Merino is probably the best thing ever; I don't think I'll ever buy anything else.
My only complaint is that the neck is really high-cut. It makes it look very un-feminine. I would never wear it "casually." On that note, while using it as intended, it does keep your chest nice and warm. I do like the longish sleeves and long/slim cut - works great when layering. I'm normally a Small or Medium; Medium fits perfect.

Great performance, no style

Good shirt for a cool day.

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought this shirt for running, and it is great if the temp is below 60 or so. I thought I could replace my technical shirts with merino wool (I'm sick of the smells), but this shirt is way too warm if the weather is hot. I am 5'4'' and 110 pounds and the XS fits well. It is pretty tight and a little long, though, so some people may not feel comfortable wearing it without a layer on top. Or should go a size up.

Like my Stoic shirt

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I liked this shirt a lot. It is cut long enough to fit as I am longwaisted. It is great for layering but nice looking enough to wear alone. It launders well. I got a medium although I sometimes prefer small as I have a narrow chest and shoulders. I think the fit is perfect for me. I may buy another one soon.

Stylie

Nice, soft, lightweight shirt. I am sensitive to wool, but no problems here. Breathes well, beautiful color (azure). 5'7", 130, 32D...bought a medium, kind of baggy under my arms. Should have bought a small, so I would say fits TTS. Best feature? Longer in back, covers my bike shorts like a champ. Ready to try it out as a light base layer for playing in the snow. Sweet shirt.

OK..a bit thin.

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I liked this shirt ok..but it's a bit see through (the lighter colors) and very fitted which is fine. It felt a bit scratchy at first and wasn't 100% happy with the fit and feel, so I returned it. But for the price and that it is merino wool, it's not bad.

Loved everything but the color

I ordered an XL of this shirt in the red (Grenadine?) to use as a hiking and all around activity shirt. I wanted it a little bigger so that it fit more like a regular shirt and not a base layer. I have a similar one in black that is a large and it is a great base layer, but tighter than I am comfortable with for around town. Generally, I am a medium in shirts - but have found that with most of the wool shirts I have to size up one or two times to get something that is a bit looser. The XL was the right size, but the red was see through, so I would have had to wear something under it. It would have been a great base layer, but that wasn't what I was looking for.

The wife likes it

I bought the shirt for my wife. She is petite and the xs small fits her well. It is her first merino shirt and she likes how it feels and the pumice/azure color.

Get this shirt!

Ladies, as far as merino shirts go, you can't go wrong with this especially for the price. Great quality and great fit. I am 5'8 140lbs and a M fits perfectly; like a normal v-neck t, without being super skin tight. Usually a regular deal breaker for me when i buy shirts is the length because i have a long torso but this shirt is perfect! I wear it on its own or as a base. A L would have done the trick too, just with a little more room.

Nice shirt

I bought a few of these shirts, different styles all the purple ones because they were on sale, they are long and the side piece is sheer, and they hug your body but feel good. I hiked in them and fell in love, I am 5'7 135 and prefer the large, it's still body hugging, better as an under shirt if you don't want it showing off every bump and curve on your body. Super soft and wash up nice, dry fast on the line.
